Message from Nicole Pease, Principal

Hello everyone, what an amazing evening last night turned out to be! The students did a wonderful job singing and playing instruments. The should each be so proud of themselves; the bravery they displayed in playing in front of a live audience was very moving. It is impressive what Jackie Niellsen is able to bring out in the students in her limited time here. The Ice Cream Social is always so sweet, thanks to PTO and parent support in making this happen. Lastly, the Auction was a great success! The Auction was a wonderful success, thanks in great part to LIsa Budzik, with help from her PTO friends!

There were so many special itmes donated and bid upon. I hope you won what you were hoping to.

With Spring Testing completed, it is with great admiration that I share the following information. In both the Math and Reading NWEA, students in grades 1-4 at or above the identified benchmark increased by 20% from fall to spring!! This shows a tremendous effort! Kindergarten students scored very well too!

Next week will be busy, please make sure students have what they need for Field Day/Water Fun Tues, Friendly Farm Wed, End of Year Celebration 2pm, and early dismissal on Thurs.

On a personal note, my son is graduating ConVal tomorrow. He was a student here and loved every minute! I cannot believe how fast time flies. Be sure to hug your children and savor every moment!

I hope you make sure to take some time to enjoy the lovely weekend, Nicole

Parent Communication Equity Audit at ConVal

In fulfillment of one of the objectives in its 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, the ConVal School District is conducting an equity audit.

The audit is a critical step in achieving ConVal’s Supportive Structures for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility goal as outlined in Priority 3 of the strategic plan. The District believes that this goal and its related action steps will lead to improved teaching and learning opportunities and outcomes for all students.

Your input is key to the process, and we ask you to consider participating in one of the focus groups scheduled for next week.

There will be three focus groups that will meet virtually: one open-invitation focus group for all families, one focus group devoted to families of color, and one focus group for families with children in the special education program. Each focus group session will last about 60-90 minutes. All participants' identities will be confidential and anonymous.

Your voice is very important in this process. Please consider attending one or more of the following:

  • Focus group interviews [link]

For more information on the audit and a chance to hear from the individuals conducting the audit, please see this recording of a town hall meeting that was conducted on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Summer Learning Registration

Good Afternoon,

It is time to register your child for Summer Learning. Please use the following link to sign your elementary child(dren) up. An early registration will ensure that we have the staff and resources to host a robust summer learning program. A separate email will be sent later in the month to register middle and high school students for Summer Academy.

Explore and Expand (all schools) and Title 1 (for AES, PES, Pierce and GES) will begin on July 9th and run through August 1st. The daily schedule for each program is 9 - 12 Tuesday through Thursday. MS Summer Academy (for all rising 5th graders) begins on July 8th and runs through August 1st. MS Summer Academy is four days a week from 8am - 12:15pm. A more detailed description of summer learning opportunities can be found in the registration form.

Similar to last year, all summer programming is free.

Please reach out with any questions!

Best,

Amy Janoch and Kathie Morrocco
