Dear Families & Caregivers,

This past Tuesday, while our schools were closed for students on Election Day, all our educators gathered for a Professional Development Day! Professional development is an essential part of our commitment to continuous improvement. As a result, our staff engaged in meaningful learning to strengthen instruction, support student growth and further align with our Instructional Vision. Thank you to our staff members for their engagement throughout the day and our many partners for their support!

Later in the week, I was honored to join our Medford High School CTE community at the National Technical Honor Society's (NTHS) Induction Ceremony! The NTHS celebrates scholarship, leadership, service, and excellence in career and technical education for students across the country. Congratulations to our 16 students for earning their induction into the organization, which doubled in size & now represents 11 programs.

As a reminder, next Wednesday, November 11, Medford Public Schools will be closed in honor of Veterans Day. Ahead of Veterans Day, we honor and thank all the brave men and women who have served in our military. Your sacrifices and dedication protect our freedoms and ensure our safety.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galusi

Dias De Los Muertos Celebration Dias De Los Muertos Celebration

From Andrews and McGlynn Middle Schools to Medford High School, World Languages teachers brought the vibrant traditions of Día de los Muertos into their classrooms. Through engaging activities, conversations, and cultural explorations, students spent October learning how families honor loved ones while discovering the traditions, symbols, and celebrations associated with this special holiday.

Special thank-you to our MHS Bistro 489 team for preparing the delicious pan de muerto, churros, and chocolate for MHS's 21st annual Día de los Muertos celebration! World Language instructor Mr. Skorker’s once again led this wonderful tradition.

By connecting these cultural experiences to their World Languages curriculum, students build cultural awareness, deepen their understanding of Spanish-speaking communities, and discover how language and culture go hand-in-hand.
