Dear Burnside families,

As the leaves change and the Thanksgiving break approaches, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your partnership. We are so thankful for the incredible support you provide to our school and for entrusting us with your wonderful children every day. It’s a privilege to see their growth and enthusiasm in our classrooms. We truly believe that our school community—students, staff, and families—is something special to be thankful for.

We wish you and your loved ones a restful, warm, and joyful Thanksgiving holiday. We hope you enjoy this time to recharge and connect. We look forward to welcoming our students back, refreshed and ready to learn, on Monday, December 1, 2025.

With Deep Gratitude,

Jennifer Grove

Walk to Read Walk to Read

Our students are using their WINN (What I Need Now) time to participate in our “Walk to Read” initiative. Walking to read is the process of grouping kids in skill-alike groups for around 30 minutes per day. Teachers in mini teams "specialize" in a particular skill level grouping during Walk to Read and the students will "walk" to that group for targeted instruction. We are hoping that this leads to more targeted and efficient planning and instruction.

Due to short staffing in our Nutrition Services department, we will be offering only one hot lunch option at Burnside Elementary for the time being. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we work to provide the best service possible under these circumstances.

Lost & Found Lost & Found

We have many sweatshirts and water bottles that have landed in the lost and found. We encourage students and families to take a look for any missing items.

I Love U Guys Foundation & Standard Response Protocol I Love U Guys Foundation & Standard Response Protocol

Keeping students and staff safe is our top priority. Our school uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), created by The “I Love U Guys” Foundation, to guide our response during emergencies. This nationally recognized system provides clear, consistent actions for situations like severe weather, fire, or safety threats.

The SRP uses simple, common language that students, staff, and first responders all understand. Because we train and practice these procedures, everyone knows what to do quickly and confidently. This shared approach helps us respond safely, calmly, and effectively in any situation.

Thank you for your support as we continue to make safety and preparedness a core part of our school environment.
