Hello, FamiLEE!

We have had an awesome week! We are ready for the Homecoming Weekend! Please come out and support our school.

We have one week left before Fall Break and the end of the nine weeks. Please make sure your young adult stays focused and completes assignments. Report Cards will go home the week after the break. If your child has a half credit class, the class ends after next week.

Please make sure you send attendance emails to LHS.Attendance@hsv-k12.org. We want to make sure the attendance is coded correctly.

Have an amazing weekend!

Sincerely,

Kitrise Torain

LHS Principal

FamiLEE Spotlight

Congratulations to our FamiLEE spotlight this week, Ms. Bacik! Mrs. Ginder, our ESOL teacher, says, "Ms. Bacik supports all her EL learners really well and ensures that all her students are able to access the content. She works really hard to make sure that the classroom is structured and organized so that all learners can be successful." One student said, "She's very welcoming and makes everyone comfortable with her genuineness and warm smile." Another student said, "She's sweet, helpful, and caring, and we can always depend on her when we need something." Thank you, Ms. Bacik, for being great!

Shout-Outs Shout-Outs

  • Shout out to Freshman of the Week Jordyn Harris, who comes to us from Whitesburg Middle School. She plans to play softball for Lee this Spring. In her spare time, she likes to hang out with friends. When she graduates from high school, she wants to go to college and become a real estate agent. Her favorite teacher at Lee is Ms. Walker because she teaches well and is super nice.
  • Shout out to Freshman of the Week Chase Tersinar, who comes to us from Chapman Middle School. He currently plays the saxophone in the 5 Star Marching Band. In his spare time, he likes to hang out with friends and practice his instrument. When he graduates from high school he would like to go to college and play in the band. His favorite teacher at Lee is Mr. Jordan because he makes math easy to understand!
  • Shout out to sophomore Cadet Amber Ruffin, who was promoted to c/CPL at the JROTC General Battalion Cadet of the Month and Promotion Board.

Magnet Minute Magnet Minute

  • Visual Arts students have finished their color theory project, Stained Glass, where they learned the history of stained glass and how to design a faux version. They are now finishing their still life drawings. This project allowed them to learn texture, value and shading as they were only allowed to use pencil and one single color. They were also instructed to add elements -- such as flames, spider webs, and liquids -- to make the still life theirs. Graphic Design created a faux product and a social media campaign to “sell” it. When they completed that project, they used their faux product to then create an animated social media ad as well as one for a real product.

  • Shout out to our first year Theater Tech students who have started work on their first major independent construction project -- prop projects! Students need to redesign and create a prop from a play, tv show, film, or video game. Below is a picture of students working in the shop. Our advanced tech students have been hard at work building our show, A Monster Calls. Students have been coming in after school to build costumes and the set as well as watch rehearsal to plan out their sound and lighting cues. We are so excited to have everyone come watch our performance!

  • Don't forget to purchase tickets for the public performances of A Monster Calls, which will be October 23rd, 24th & 25th. See the flyer below for the QR code!
  • Fall magnet applications open October 17th! Check out the flyer below for more information on our conservatories and areas of study.

Lee High will host a Hispanic Heritage Festival Oct. 3rd. Please see Ms. Perez if you're interested in participating.

  • The LHS soccer teams are having a yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 25th. If you'd like to donate items, please email Coach Matzkind at Kurtis.Matzkind@hsv-k12.org.

  • New HCS Wireless Communication Device Policy: We want to inform you about an important update to our school policies in response to a new state law. On May 14, 2025, Governor Kay Ivey signed the FOCUS Act (Freeing Our Classrooms of Unnecessary Screens for Safety) into law. This law, which went into effect July 1, 2025, requires public schools across Alabama to limit student use of wireless communication devices during the instructional day to improve focus, safety, and engagement. In compliance with this law, Huntsville City Schools will implement a district-wide Wireless Communication Device (WCD) Policy beginning Fall 2025. Please click here to review the new HCS Wireless Communication Device policy.
