We've been working hard on our attendance numbers this school year.

If you are apart of out Moore Facebook page you will find weekly updates on attendance.

As stated in our School Handbook, absences that are verified—whether through a doctor’s note, obituary, or parent phone call—still count as absences. However, providing documentation such as doctor’s notes is still very helpful, especially if Truancy concerns arise.

2nd Grade

During the month of May in Second Grade, we will focus on reading procedural texts and identifying the key words to help us know what step is next. In Phonics our focus will be learning to spell words that have a silent letter. Our focus for Math will be addition and subtraction with measurement. Our new area of study in Science will be Plants and our character trait for the month of May is integrity.

3rd Grade

Third grade is working on fractions in math. Students are expected to understand fractions as numbers, fraction equivalence, and fraction comparison. We are also reviewing ways to use data in both math and science as well as building line plots, bar graphs, and pictographs. Students will continue to work using games to build fluency in addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication throughout the rest of the school year.

In reading and writing, students have been practicing writing to a prompt as well as finishing up report writing. Students are practicing comprehension skills using fiction and non-fiction. Students are also practicing building stamina while reading and fluency at their level. Students are practicing strong phonics skills by building words with word parts and playing word games.

In social studies, students continue to study Michigan, focusing on Michigan's government and economy.

In science, we are studying the life cycles of frogs and other living things.

Behavior Intervention

In behavior groups, we continue to talk about the difference between thoughts, feelings, and actions. We have discussed how our bodies feel when we have different emotions. We read 3 short stories about different characters. The students had to think about their emotions, how their body felt, and what the triggers were. They learned that triggers are the events or situations that lead to their feelings. The students are continuing to learn social emotional skills.

Social Work

Social work students continue to demonstrate meaningful progress across support tiers. Tier 2 Check-in/check-out students are showing strong growth, with many nearing graduating from services due to their consistent progress and improved behavior. Tier 3 students are continuing to work on individualized goals, with a focus on building daily routines, strengthen peer relationships, and developing skills that will support a successful transition into the summer months. Overall, students are making steady progress and responding positively to targeted interventions.

May Focus- Show Respect

🐾 PBIS Focus of the Month: “W” – Work Together 🐾

This month, we are focusing on the importance of working together! At school, students are learning how to cooperate, include others, and be helpful members of their classroom community.

How families can support “Work Together” at home:

  • Encourage teamwork: Give your child small tasks to complete with siblings or family members, like cleaning up or preparing a meal together.
  • Model cooperation: Let your child see you working with others, sharing responsibilities, and communicating respectfully.
  • Practice problem-solving: When conflicts arise, guide your child to talk things out, listen, and find solutions together.
  • Use positive language: Praise your child when they share, take turns, or help someone else.
  • Play cooperative games: Choose games where players work toward a common goal instead of competing.

Working together helps build strong relationships and a positive environment both at school and at home. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s success!
