Arrival and Dismissal updates
New Bell Schedule: Starting Earlier
The school day at BHP will be starting a few minutes earlier this year. Our intrustional day will start at 7:45. This was a decision made to reduce route times for our bus riders and to ensure that students are in school for the required amount of minutes per Texas school law.
Morning drop off: 7:10-7:40
First Bell: 7:40 (car rider line will end)
Tardy Bell 7:45
All students should be in their CLASSROOMS to begin instruction at 7:45.
See Maps Below- new traffic patterns for arrival and dismissal
There will be NO car rider drop off in the front loop this year. All car riders will drop off through the back loop. This will prevent many of the safety concerns we faced in previous years in the front parking lot. You may still park and walk your child to the door from the front lot.
Dismissal
Dismissal lines will get shorter as students and families become familiar with the new routines.
Kindergarten parents: Please stay to the left lane.
1st grade parents stay in the middle lane
2nd grade parents stay in the right lane
(see map below)
Dismissal for car riders begins at 3:10. Arriving early and checking your child out from the front office to avoid the line, slows the whole process. Students have moved from classrooms to dismissal areas and our staff is needed outside to load cars. Students will not be dismissed from the office after 2:30 unless of an emergency situation. Please plan accordingly for appointments and such.
The only walk-up dismissal will be for PRE-K parents at 2:50.
All other parents must go through the loops.
1st and 2nd grade-back loop
Kindergarteners and their siblings- front loop
Transportation Changes
If your child is going home differently than their normal routine, please email Marlene Gray at Marlene.Gray@wimberleyisd.net. The only changes that will be honored are the ones that go through Ms. Gray in the main office. All changes must be communicated before 2:00. This allows our staff time to follow our procedures to ensure your child gets home safely.
Car Tags are Required
Car tags will be provided at Meet the Teacher. All car rider parents are required to have a car tag hanging in their front windshield at pickup. This will allow staff to safely dismiss students. If your car tag is not displayed, you may be asked to park and check your child out from the front office. Please have student name, grade and teacher displayed on the tag.
Kid Connection Parents
If your child is not attending Kid Connection on a particular day, you must put in for a transportation change to Marlene.Gray@wimberelyisd.net. Kid Connection students are in a different area than the car rider students. If you are coming through the regular dismissal loop, you will hold up dismissal while we get your child from the alternate location. It is best for us to be prepared ahead of time and have your child with the car riders. Parking and checking your child out from the front office is also an option after 3:00.
Please do NOT park in the front loop to pick up your child until after 5:00. We still have buses coming through the front loop after school until 5 and they have gotten blocked by kid connection parents parking in the loop. It also blocks emergency vehicles from being able to get in if needed.
Bus Rider Information
Please download the Smart Tag parent app.
The Wimberley ISD Transportation Department utilizes the SMART tag system in all of our buses. This system helps increase safety and security for students riding on a school bus, leveraging technology to improve student management and communications on school buses. SMART tag monitors student loading and unloading, providing real-time information to the Transportation Department, and you, the parent. The SMART tag system helps WISD:
- Increase driver, school, and parent awareness
- Ensure riders load on the right bus and unload at the right stop
- Maximize rider safety and security
- Enable drivers to efficiently and effectively perform their duties
