Future Ready Classrooms:
It's our time to purge!! We are on the calendar to get our furniture within the next three weeks. This process is somewhat will be quick and out of our control. We need your help with ensuring that you have your room ready. Here are some things you can do to prepare:
1. Make sure you have everything (school and personal items) out of your teacher desk. It should be empty. Remember - you will receive a new teacher desk; however, it is much smaller than what you currently have.
2. Purge items that you no longer use. You will have less space for random items.
3. You will have a second file cabinet. We WILL NOT remove your current file cabinet; however, you WILL receive a new file cabinet with the new furniture. You MUST keep both in your classrooms because we don't have storage for them and they are not being removed by district.
4. You must have space for student desks or tables, chairs, kidney table, tech table, teacher desk, movable podium, flexible seats(4)
5. We don't have an option to refuse any of our new furniture. You don't have an option to keep any of your old furniture.
Please let's make sure we have things ready to make this process as seamless as possible for the furniture installers and the removal of the old furniture.
Safety Videos - Please remember to complete your district mandatory assessments. Pay attention to due dates.
Parent/Teacher Conferences: Just a reminder that the front office closes at 4:00 pm. If you have conferences scheduled past this time Monday - Wednesday you will need to meet the family at the front door or make other arrangements with the family to enter on the bus loop.
Hall Displays: Please update or begin placing student writing in page protectors in hallways. For those of you who have started this procedure, we appreciate you. Remember we value process over product. Grade level math walls also need to be on display at this time. As a gentle reminder, standards and or a simple description of the learning should be displayed as well.
TimeClock Plus is OFFICIAL!!
Remember to enter all absences in Aesop and TimeClock Plus.
Knoll Nonsense: We are off to a good start! It's clear that the teachers and staff at the Knoll like to have fun! The current team standings are as follows: 4th and 5th Grade are tied for first with 2100 points, 3rd grade is in second place with 1600 points and 2nd grade is in third place with 1300 points. We have several others "on the board" and a few who have not gotten started...yet! There is still plenty of time! All activities will be available all school year. Be on the lookout for additional activities to post this weekend. It's not too late to join the Facebook Group as well and see all the "nonsense" going on a the Knoll. LLC Leaders- We have 134 LLC Leaders, 3rd-5th graders, so far. Students take a short quiz to show they know how to self check in and out. I’m so proud of all of our students! Take the quiz and see how much you know.
SC Book Award Nominees-- Each year, the SC Book Award Committee creates a list of 20 of the BEST books! I have placed a bookmark in each teacher’s box of these books. There are many genres represented in this list.
Check out the SC Picture Book Award list for Kindergarten-3rd grades.
Check out the SC Children’s Book Award list for 3rd-6th grades.
All students 5K-2nd graders are being read aloud in the LLC the SCPB Nominees each week. They will vote on their favorite book at the end of February.
Third graders are encouraged to read on their own either SCPB Nominees or SCCB Nominees.
Fourth and Fifth grade students are encouraged to read the SCCB Nominees.
Students and teachers who read and review at least 5 of the 20 SC Children’s Book Nominees will be invited to our Book Voting Celebration in March and the SC Read In at the State House on April 2nd.
Need Assistance form-collaboration, read aloud, book talks, reader’s advisory, makerspace projects, extra set of hands, mental moment, etc.

BFF(Book Friends Fridays) Club-1st, 4th, and 5th grade teachers please remind and encourage your students to be part of the BFF Club on Friday mornings in the LLC. 1st graders are paired with the older students to read to become 100 Book Club Members. All of these students will benefit from this opportunity.
Counselors' Corner
Counselors Corner
Dear Teachers,
The school counselors wanted to reiterate the importance of referring students so that we can get them the most appropriate services. This especially hit home to us in our Collaborative Conversation and the scenarios we discussed.
Also, it's going to be a long week next week. DON'T FORGET ABOUT SELF-CARE! In fact, here are some great strategies and techniques to remember. JUST FOR YOU!!!

At the bottom left corner you will then see eTools and Backgrounds. There are lots of options you can choose from. I hope you will find this to be a helpful tool.
Literacy Corner
In our journey of always improving our practice, be reflective. Ask yourself:
- What kind of writing is on display? What kind of writing is not on display?
- If what we display in the hallways conveys a message about what we value in our school, what is the message here?
- How is this seating in my room set to support independent writing?
- How is the meeting area in my room set up for the whole class to comfortably come together for whole class minilessons?
- Are kids using anchor charts? Which ones are most popular?
- What systems are set up for kids to access writing supplies on their own?
- Do I have a clear way of keeping conferring notes?
- Do I leave students with an artifact and/or something to work on (a reading/writing goal)?

Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you for all you do!
