May 2025

Thanks to all who participated in the Archdiocese of Seattle's Season of Service. There's one more opportunity to serve on May 31 in South Seattle (Click here for details). We are grateful for the folks at All Saints that make every season a season of service. From our food program volunteers to our quilters, we are so blessed by your faithful commitment.

This is a thank you note from one of the families we helped in May. Thank you for your continued support of All Saints Community Services which makes helping families in our community possible!

Dear All Saints Community Services,

On behalf of myself, and my entire household, I want to extend our deepest and most sincere thanks for your generous pledge to help cover the remaining balance of our past due rent. Your support has brought a sense of stability and peace to our home during a very uncertain time. Please know that your kindness has touched not just me, but my children as well—they are so grateful, and it means the world to all of us to feel supported and cared for. Your compassion has made a real difference in our lives, and we will always remember this act of grace and generosity.

Saint Philip Neri | Franciscan Media

For many years after his student days, Saint Philip Neri lived as a layman engaged in prayer and apostolic works in Rome. During this time, he attracted many to join him-poor and rich. After ordination, he became a noted confessor and eventually founded the Oratory, a religious institute, with some of his followers.

PREPARES

Thank you for your participation in the PREPARES Open Your Heart Appeal in 2025. We recently received a $600 grant to purchase diapers and other childcare items for our All Saints Community Services guests with small children. If you would like to help us fill some PREPARES bags for ages 2-4, we've created a wishlist. Look for more information in August if you'd like to be involved in helping us distribute these bags to families.

Journey of Faith (OCIA)

Join us for our Journey of Faith Summer Gatherings on Sunday, June 8, July 13, and August 10. We’ll attend 9 am Mass and then gather for hospitality in the parish center afterwards.

Journey of Faith is for those seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith and wanting to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist as an adult. Our family track also helps families prepare for kids and teens (4th grade and older) to prepare for these sacraments. Our weekly gatherings start in September. Contact Morningstar in the parish office for more information.

McGovern-Dole Food for Education Feeding Programs Terminated

Last week we learned the administration has terminated all but two of Catholic Relief Services’ McGovern-Dole Food for Education school feeding programs—cutting off daily meals for nearly 800,000 children in 11 countries beginning in July. For many, this was their only meal of the day.

This beautiful photo essay explains the impact of the program.

Without these meals, children will be forced to learn on empty stomachs, putting their health and futures at risk.

Your voice is urgently needed so we can continue to work for a world where no child goes hungry.

School feeding programs:

  • Increase literacy and learning outcomes.
  • Reduce absences due to hunger and illness.
  • Support local economies and reduce migration.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, CRS partners with governments and communities to sustain school meal programs and strengthen a child’s education. These programs not only nourish students, but they also stabilize families and communities.

  • at Mass (find a pledge envelope, donate cash or checks made to "Annual Catholic Appeal", and drop in a collection basket at church, or mail to the Archdiocese of Seattle, PO Box 14964, Seattle 98114)
  • online (Archseattle.org/GiveACA)
  • over the phone (1 800 809 4921)
  • stocks or donations through donor-advised funds or IRAs (explore options at Archseattle.org/Give-Serve ß active link)
