PLAN AHEAD FOR DROP OFF AND DISMISSAL

FKAA started a project that will have rolling closures. Please make sure you give yourself enough time in the morning to drop off your student (s) and in the afternoon to pick them up. You may drop them off as early as 7:20am to make sure they arrive on time. Also, there may be some bus stops that will temporarily be out of service while a section is being worked on. Below is the message from FKAA:

Update: FKAA work to resume 3/9 at Tavernier Creek Bridge. A new traffic control plan has been approved by the Florida Department of Transportation, in coordination with the Monroe County School District, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Details at https://bit.ly/PlantationKeyProject

Mrs. Rodriguez completed the PBIS walkthrough here at PKS. Thank you to everyone, students and staff alike, at PKS for knowing and following the Monroe County iBElieve Expectations: BE Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn and Empowered. The visit was to ensure Tier 1 PBIS: MTSS practices are evident, and they were! Now we move on to entry into Model School Application!

Learning about Edible Plants

Students explore our very own Hydroponic Planter. Students examined some of the different edible plants growing at PKS. Basil grows near the top of our tower, and we were trying to describe the aroma after pinching off a little sample of leaves. Also growing are Bok Choy, Bibb Lettuce, Arugula, and Peppers are just transforming from buds to actual peppers. We had to be detectives to find the little red and green gems growing near the middle of the plant. PKS has several areas where edible plants are growing. Soon, Mrs. Hillman will be starting the PKS Kindness Butterfly Garden!

SAY SOMETHING WEEK

The Sandy Hook Promise Say Something program is aimed at promoting school safety. Its purpose is to empower students to SAY SOMETHING when they see or hear things that could be warning signs that someone wants to hurt themselves or others. Students participated in events all week reinforcing program concepts.
