Dear Students, Families, and Community,

We had such a fun week here at Hansen Jr/Sr High! Students and staff enjoyed trick-or-treating through the halls and showing off their creative costumes. Thank you to everyone who joined in on the Halloween fun!

We also had a fantastic turnout for Senior Night, for both volleyball and football were well supported by our community. Congratulations to our JV Volleyball team on a successful season, and we’re so proud of our Varsity Volleyball girls for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

Best of luck to our Husky Football team as they travel to Cambridge tomorrow for their play-in game, and to Acacia, who will be competing at State Cross Country! We also have students representing Hansen at State Student Council this weekend—what an incredible group of leaders!

Our students continue to work hard and find success, and we are seeing great results from FLEX time, which helps students stay on track and get the support they need. Looking ahead to November, we will host our Veterans Day Breakfast and Assembly on November 11th to honor those who have served. We will also be preparing for interim ISAT assessments and working with the state to complete the Wellness Survey for families who have opted in.

Throughout the month, our focus will be on showing kindness and giving thanks—encouraging students and staff to recognize and appreciate the positive impact they have on one another and our school community. At Hansen Jr/Sr High, we strive to create a safe, supportive, and engaging school where everyone is welcome, appreciated, and encouraged to grow. We are so proud to have such a great team, amazing students, and a wonderful community behind us.

✅ Attendance ✅ Attendance

Hansen Jr/Sr High would like to remind families of the importance of consistent attendance. Being at school every day helps students stay on track academically and socially. Students are required to maintain at least 90% attendance each semester, which means they can miss no more than 7 days. If a student exceeds 7 absences, a meeting with the Attendance Committee, the student, and the parent/guardian will be required to review next steps and determine how the student may earn credit.

Please remember:

  • Students may not check themselves out — a parent or guardian must call the school to excuse an absence.

  • Doctor-excused absences do not count toward the 7 days, so please make sure to bring a doctor’s note if your child is seen by a physician.

For our high school students, there’s an incentive for great attendance and grades:
Students who have 3 or fewer absences (not counting school-related absences) and an A in the class will be exempt from finals at the end of the semester!

We appreciate your support in helping our students reach their goals and finish the semester strong. More information can be found in the student handbook or by calling the school office.
