April 22: Monday Magi Messenger
April 22, 2024

Week of April 22, 2024
Superintendent's Monday Magi Message
Happy Monday Magi Families,
The photo memory for the week is a flashback to our 6th Grade Bubble Blitz at Colon Jr/Sr High School a couple of weeks ago. This group of students knew their stuff - and I enjoyed working with them. Your children, our students, are at the core of our work each and every day, and I am grateful to be in their presence. The end of this week marks the end of major state testing for our students. Please continue to cheer on your child(ren) as we show stakeholders the amazing growth they have had this year. As I have mentioned in previous editions, and more importantly, we have seen this year how incredibly kind and resilient our youth are with each other, developing skills and empathy through our community and school programming.
It also marks the time of year when we share information about our summer programming. I am incredibly proud of the team we have assembled to offer some great options to your families. Please check out the preliminary information below. Our Summer Programming will run July 1 - August 2 (except July 4), and it will be held primarily at Colon Elementary, with age groups in separate wings to accommodate for Colon Jr/Sr High School facility work. There are some incredible educators who have been tapped to offer programming and I can't wait to see the continued growth of our students, even over the summer.
Have a magical week,
Dr. Rachel Kowalski

Colon Garden Club Visit!
Huge thanks to the Colon Garden Club for visiting our 5th graders in preparation for Arbor Day! 🌳 The club members shared the history of this special day and taught the students about tree cultivation. Each student even received their own tree to plant at home! To highlight the significance of Arbor Day, the Colon Garden Club shared this inspiring quote: "Other holidays repose upon the past; Arbor Day proposes for the future." These powerful words by J. Sterling Morton, the founder of Arbor Day in 1872, continue to resonate and guide Arbor Day celebrations to this day. 🌱 You can also catch a glimpse of some of Mr. Richard's famous plants, perfect for this occasion!
Bunnies & Reading!
📚🐰 Yesterday was an extra special storytime at our library! Mrs. Reilley brought her adorable new bunnies for the students to cuddle during storytime. 📖💕 They're so soft and tiny, and the kids absolutely loved holding them! 🐇 We're incredibly fortunate to have Mrs. Reilley as our librarian; she truly brings books to life in the most magical ways! 🌟📚✨

Prom 2024: Wild West
Grand March - Saturday, April 27th @ 4PM
Be sure to join us - Colon Jr/Sr High School Gym! Our prom grand march is a traditional event. During the grand march, couples or attendees are introduced as they walk down a designated pathway, and it is a ceremonial way to showcase the attendees and kick off the prom festivities. Enjoy these snapshots from last year's event!
Dr. Kowalski and Mrs. Wielenga want to extend our congratulations to the prom committee for all of their hard work and to Mrs. Wagner for her tireless efforts to plan this year's prom! Well done!
Also... to the Junior Boys... Dr. Kowalski thinks the dinosaur theme may have been a little fun... but not very popular! Wild West was the way to go! :)
