Garcia Selected to Serve on TEA STAAR Committee
Mr. Isreal Garcia, teacher at W.E. Chalmers Elementary, was selected by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to serve on the STAAR Spanish Grade 4 Reading Item Review Committee this summer (July 17–18, 2025).
The development of high-quality assessments for our students across the state depends on the knowledge and expertise of educators like Mr. Garcia. Nearly 1,000 educators from across Texas participated in this process, reviewing test items, evaluating appropriateness, and ensuring content reflects both rigor and relevance. Mr. Garcia’s contributions not only benefit Gainesville ISD but will impact students across the state for years to come.
We are proud of Mr. Garcia’s commitment to his profession and grateful for the way he represented Gainesville ISD in this important work. His service is a reminder of the impact that GISD teachers are making not just within our classrooms, but also at the state level.
If you are interested in participating in future TEA educator review committees, I encourage you to learn more and apply. These opportunities provide valuable hands-on experience with state assessment materials while allowing you to provide direct feedback that shapes testing in Texas. You can find more information and the application link here: TEA Educator Committees.
Thank you for the daily work you do to provide our students with the very best education. Please join me in congratulating Mr. Garcia for his leadership and service
