Welcome back, Vincent Massey Cheetahs!

Dear Vincent Massey Students and Families,

Welcome back, Vincent Massey families! We are so excited to begin another school year and are especially excited to welcome our students back into the building!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Backpack Night. It was wonderful to see such a great turnout! We were excited to meet many new families joining our school community and reconnect with families whose children have been part of Vincent Massey for years. Your enthusiasm and smiles helped make the evening a wonderful start to the year!

We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growth, connection, and fun. One of our school-wide goals this year will be to strengthen student achievement in mathematics. We are excited to see the progress our students will make as we work together to help every learner grow.

Please know that we are here to support our students and families. Whether a child needs academic, social-emotional, attendance, or other support, we have a caring team ready to help. Please reach out when you need us.

Finally, a special welcome to families who are interested in becoming involved with our School Community Council (SCC). We would love to have you join us! The SCC is a great way to connect with other families, share ideas, and help make Vincent Massey an even stronger school community.

We can't wait to see our hallways filled with students, laughter, and learning once again. Here's to a wonderful 2026โ€“27 school year at Vincent Massey!

Welcome back, Cheetahs!

Mrs. Tomporowski and Ms. Fernie

WEAR ORANGE - National Day of Truth & Reconciliation

What is Orange Shirt Day?

Orange Shirt Day is commemorated every September 30 to ensure no child ever feels the shame or pain Phyllis Webstad did on her first day of school. This date was chosen because it was at this time of year that so many Indigenous children were taken from their homes, families and communities and forced into residential schools.

Truth and reconciliation begins when we commit to learn our history and not repeat it. Over 150,000 children attended residential schools in Canada. The goal of the government-funded, church-run schools was to remove parental involvement in the intellectual, cultural and spiritual development of Indigenous children. Many children never made it home and thousands died while attending residential schools. The residential school legacy continues to impact generations of Indigenous families to this day.

Vincent Massey Public School invites all staff and students to wear a ribbon shirt, skirt, or an orange shirt on Tuesday, September 30th.
