March 2-8, 2025

Good morning, Cannon Families,

Welcome, March! It's hard to believe we have 9 days until spring break - Our last "Big Break" of the 2024-2025 school year. As a reminder, the district is closed Friday, March 14 through spring break (March 17-21). Cubs and staff will return Monday, March 24th. At that time, we begin planning to show off our students with the Cannon's Got Talent Show and STAAR testing season; Our Cubs have a lot of talents to show off!

This week, we celebrate National Read Across America Week with some fun literacy-rich dress up days! Read Across America Week is celebrated from March 2 to 6 — it begins on the birthday of the beloved author, Dr. Seuss, and also kicks off National Reading Month, which extends through the month of March. We hope all of our Cubs will join in on the dress up fun. I apologize for the miscommunication previously shared in the save the date section; there is no grade level performance this week.

Spring fever and spring behaviors are definitely setting in... As we continue to engage our scholars in rigorous instructional time, please remind your Cub to always show Cub PRIDE (Partnership, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, and Empathy). Every instructional minute counts as our staff works to ensure academic growth for all students.

Congratulations to our fourth and fifth grade STEM Habit of Mind Hall of Fame Inductees for Being Persistent! STEM teaching and learning is an instructional approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through STEM education practices, students develop key skills including: problem solving, creativity, and critical analysis. We are PROUD to honor our scholars for exhibiting STEM thinking, and we can't wait to celebrate our next group of inductees this Friday.

I'd like to give a STEMtastic Staff Spotlight Shout Out to our full time Speech Pathologist - Mrs. Lily Harlow!

Mrs. Harlow jumps in and supports our Cannon scholars anytime and anywhere.

Thank you, Mrs. Harlow, for all you do for our Cannon community!

It's time to start thinking about talent show performances! Auditions for the 2025 Cannon's Got Talent Show will take place on Monday, March 24th. That's the Monday we return from Spring Break! If your Cub would like to show off their talents, please complete the 🎤 Cannon's Got Talent Show Participation Form by Monday, March 10th. Look for informational forms in your student's take home folder this week.

As always, thank you for your parent partnership!

Proud to be your principal,
