Afternoon Parents/Guardians,

We hope that you had as great of a week as we had here at GBS! Next week is a big one, meaning the first full 5 day week of the 25-26 school year. As we continue to adjust to the new year, please be sure to encourage your students to walk the Bobcat Way!

It has been brought to our attention that End 68 Hours of Hunger is requiring all families who are interested in registering to do so directly with them.

If you registered for this program when you completed your First Day Packet forms, it is necessary to register directly with End 68. Clicking the link or QR Code below will take you directly to their registration page.

Thanks to all for a great start! We look forward to continuing to support and work with you to provide your students with the best middle school experience!!

Sincerely,

Adam Caragher, Principal ~ GBS

From Mrs. Gourlay

Hello, 5th Grade Families!

We will be using the Second Step Bullying Prevention curriculum in the 5th grade classes, beginning on Tuesday, September 9th. The Second Step program teaches children important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school. In this unit, your child will learn specific skills to help stop bullying. Students will learn how to:

• Recognize when bullying is happening, report bullying to a caring adult, and refuse to let bullying happen

• Be a bystander who helps stop bullying

• Support someone being bullied by standing up for that person and being kind and inclusive

• Recognize, report, and refuse cyber-bullying when they see or know about it happening

Our staff are an important part of bullying prevention, and can recognize and respond to bullying as well as use strategies that support a positive school and classroom climate.

We encourage you to talk with your child and ask them what they are learning about preventing bullying. Give them the clear message that it is never okay to bully others, and to ask for help if they or someone else is being bullied. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you for helping us make our school a safe, respectful place where everyone can learn!
