SMS couldn't be more proud of our athletes for the focus and discipline towards exemplery behavior they have exhibited this season! Our goal with this initiative is for the kids' focus to transcend into their actions both on and off the court. The positive feedback we've received from bus drivers, teachers, coaches, cafeteria workers, monitors/aides, and employees at other schools is a testament to the fact that these kids have truly bought in.

Congratulations to all the students who were recognized last week for their exemplary behavior! Depending on the significance of their contributions, students were rewarded with certificates, free Jersey Mike's subs, and/or team gear. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed!

You can find the presentation used to acknowledge their achievements and the students recognized linked below.

Keep up the great work!

Middle School Wrestling Team Recap

Congratulations to our middle school wrestling team on their outstanding performance at the recent GCC Individual Tournament! We are thrilled to announce that Grecol, Talerico, and Trusnik emerged victorious in their respective weight classes. Additionally, the grit and skill of our remaining 11 Mustang wrestlers were evident as they all achieved podium finishes, showcasing the depth of talent on our team.

Over the past week, our team also secured impressive dual wins against Berea-Midpark, Aurora, and Avon Lake, further solidifying their strength this season. With an overall dual record of 9-2 and victories in all three tournaments they've entered this year, our wrestlers are truly on an incredible run.

Looking ahead, this weekend the team will compete in the TAB 50 Team Tournament in Twinsburg. Let’s wish them luck as they continue to strive for excellence on the mat!

Middle School Basketball Teams Recap

Last week marked the conclusion of conference play for all 8 middle school basketball teams with the exciting annual Mustang Bowl. We are proud to announce that both the boys green teams and the girls white teams emerged victorious in four hard-fought battles, with most of the games coming down to the wire! Their determination and teamwork were truly commendable.

As we move forward, this week kicks off the MS GCC Tournament, and we are excited to see our teams compete at a higher level. The tournament schedule can be found linked below for your convenience.

Congratulations to the 8th grade girls white team and the 8th grade boys green team for earning the top seed in the tournament! Your hard work and dedication have paid off, and we are proud of your achievements.

Best of luck to all our teams as they take on this next challenge!

Sports Fan Etiquette

Strongsville City Schools, its students, its staff, and its services are all part of a first class community. The roots of our first class nature are derived from the actions of the great families that comprise Strongsville. With that said, being first class doesn't mean being perfect in all actions. In part, it means having the desire, open-mindedness and skillset to get better when needed. Last year some of our students, perhaps unknowingly, engaged in some unsportsmanlike conduct from the bleachers at some recent athletic contests. Most of us know that being good neighbors to our opponents, their fans and the officials is a part of being first class. It might not be known to many middle school aged students who are starting to experience their first sense of freedom.

I am strongly encouraging all families to have the following conversation with your middle school aged child. Please inform them that the only acceptable behavior at sporting event is being positive. Any negative behavior/speech is strictly prohibited. Below is a brief explanation as it relates to acceptable and unacceptable fan behavior. Thank you for your cooperation!
