FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE
Dear Seitz Middle School Family,
On Wednesday, April 22nd, the Continuity of Learning Plan will begin for Seitz Middle School students and continue through June 12th. Students are encouraged to complete the lessons provided to prepare for next school year. We understand that many parents are working from home and have responsibilities associated with their jobs and family members. Flexibility for families was a key consideration in this plan, requiring a minimum of 60 and a maximum of 180 minutes per day. Additional and more specific details will be coming from your child’s teacher(s) by this Wednesday. Please see schedule and information below.
SUBJECTS: Social Studies includes Geography and History. Electives are Rosetta Stone, Art, Gym, Computers, Coding, Drama, Choir, Band, Mythology, Reader’s Workshop, Creative Writing and Math/Reading Strategies.
ASSIGNMENTS: Teachers will post material for the week on Schoology by 8:00 a.m. each Monday in weekly folders. Assignments are to be completed by Friday. Teachers will include materials such as notes, videos, instruction, or provide other learning opportunities along with Zoom/Schoology Conference meeting and discussion times.
CLASSLINK: When your student logs onto any device to do school work, they should be using CLASSLINK https://launchpad.classlink.com/riverview. By doing so, all apps that your child uses will be downloaded on any device.
Username: School ID Password: 8-digit date of birth.
GRADING: During this time, feedback on individual coursework will be provided; however, the overall course grade will not be affected during remote learning. Students will have an opportunity to revisit and/or retake standards that they did not master this school year in order to improve grade.
WELLNESS CHECK: Students MUST complete a wellness check form every Monday. Although forms can be found in multiple places in Schoology, only one form is necessary to be completed per week. This is the only way that your student’s teacher will know how to best support your child/family and provide any additional resources that you may need. This is confidential information between student and teacher.
PIRATE PRIDE/MENTOR GROUPS: Every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. students will meet live with their mentor teachers. The focus during this time will be on building relationships and connection.
SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL LEARNING GROUP: The SEL group was created to provide social emotional support (videos, worksheets, activities, resources) during these uncertain times. Pease feel free to contact us with any concerns, questions, and additional support.

BELONGINGS IN LOCKERS: We understand students may still have belongings in their lockers. Due to the current Governor’s Executive Order, the building is closed. We will communicate a plan once the order is lifted.
COMMUNICATION: Schoology will be the primary source of communication. If you need assistance with your account, please email lsingleton@riverviewschools.com. Please don’t hesitate to contact your student’s teacher. He/she will be checking Schoology and email regularly. Although Student Support hours are included in the schedule above, each teacher will communicate their support times. Teachers will be able to assist or support academic concepts at this time.
PARTNERSHIP: It is more important than ever that we work together as partners in education. You are not alone. We are here to help. We ask that you please be patient with our teachers who have put forth their best effort towards this new venture. We will get through this together!
If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to ask.
Stay safe & be well,
