Cyber Sense
Greetings from HMS.
On Tuesday, October 21, grade eight students were given the opportunity to hear from Assistant District Attorney, Elizabeth O'Connell, of the Plymouth County District Attorney's office on the topic of cyber safety. This presentation, entitled Cyber Sense, provided our students with real -life examples of the potential dangers they may encounter online, as well as common mistakes students make that could potentially follow them for many years to come.
We appreciate the support from the DA's office in helping our children to make good decisions when it comes to their online activity.
Please watch for information on future assemblies and programs for our grade six and seven students that will focus on similar topics.
Thank you for working with us to help our students learn how to navigate the complex world in which we all live.
HMS is Tickled Pink!
The students and faculty of HMS, led by the Student Council, came together to raise money and awareness for those dealing with breast cancer. As always, the HMS community showed their generosity, caring, and kindness during our Pink Day, raising $1,690.75 to be donated to Pawsitively 4 Pink, a non-profit organization that supports low-income, underserved women diagnosed with breast cancer in Massachusetts.
Way to go, HMS Student Council!!!
HMS is Here to Help
We understand that making ends meet can be difficult for some families in our HPS community. Therefore, we want to let you know that there are individuals in each of our schools who are ready to provide information and assistance. Resources may be available to help families in times of financial need or other challenging situations. Our particular area of outreach is for food support for the upcoming holidays.
Please don’t hesitate to contact an administrator, the school nurse, or counseling personnel at your child's school if you are in need of food support for the holidays. Rest assured that your request will be managed in a way that respects your rights to confidentiality.
A Note from the Nurses
Do you have gently used clothing that is in good shape, but in need of a new home?
Please consider sending them in to our school nurses!
We could use items such as lightly used leggings, pants, sweatshirts, and/or t-shirts for students. We find having these things on hand for any unforeseen "emergencies" to be extremely helpful and would be greatly appreciated.
Donations can be delivered directly to the Nurses' Office.
Thank you.
Fall is in the air at HMS!
The HMS Art Club met after school this week to decorate pumpkins . . .
. . . While the Adventure Club travelled to Lookout Farm in Natick for some apple picking, a corn maze, and other autumn-related activities.
Watch the HMS Connection for more information about these great clubs!
