DeLeon Chronicles
Roaring to Success : April Edition
Lion Family
Dear Lion Family,
April has been a month filled with pride, perseverance, and powerful accomplishments across our campus. Our UIL One Act Play Thespians earned an outstanding 3rd place finish with their performance of “The Amazing Lemonade Girl”, showcasing their talent, dedication, and passion for the arts. On the track and field, our DMS Lion Track & Field teams once again dominated the competition at the District Meet, demonstrating strength, determination, and true Lion spirit.
Our academic excellence continues to shine as our State Science Fair competitors represented De Leon Middle School with pride in College Station. In addition, our students embraced opportunities for growth through our RLA Camp for 6th and 7th graders and our engaging Science Camp for 8th graders—both of which were tremendous successes in building confidence and skills.
We also took time this month to celebrate the highly dedicated members of our campus—our incredible paraprofessionals, assistant principals, and librarian—whose daily contributions make a lasting impact on our students and school community. Their dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for all they do.
Our IB 8th grade students proudly presented their Community Service Projects at IB Lamar Academy, exemplifying leadership and a commitment to making a difference. Meanwhile, our 8th Grade GEAR UP students explored future careers through immersive VR technology experiences, continuing to prepare for success beyond middle school.
As we move forward, our Lions are focused and determined as they prepare for the upcoming STAAR exams in RLA, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Algebra I. We are confident that our students will continue to rise to the occasion—believing and achieving every step of the way.
Lastly, it is with heavy hearts that we remember and mourn the loss of our fellow Lion, 6th grade math teacher, Mr. Jae Jang. Mr. Jang brought a remarkable combination of patience, intelligence, and kindness to everything he did. He made our campus a better place simply by being himself. We will carry his memory with us and honor him through the work we do each day in service of our students.
Thank you, Lion Family, for your continued support, resilience, and commitment to excellence. Together, we will continue to Roar to Success.
With pride,
Mr. Alaniz
De Leon Middle School Principal
May His Memory Be a Blessing
Our De Leon family is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Jae Jang, a cherished colleague, mentor, and friend. His kindness, steady presence, and unwavering commitment to our students made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mr. Jang poured his heart into this campus, and his legacy will continue to live on in the lives he touched, the students he inspired, and the community he helped shape. We are grateful for the time we shared with him and will carry his memory forward with love and respect. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss.
