Subject: Spring State Assessments (MCA)
Parents and Guardians,
Each spring, Minnesota students take statewide assessments to provide a snapshot of their academic progress. These assessments help our school and the state ensure that all students are meeting Minnesota’s academic standards. The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) are state-required assessments that help us measure student progress in Reading, Mathematics, and Science (Grades 5 and 8).
The Reading, Math, and Science assessments are scheduled for the following dates:
Reading MCA: Grade 3-5, April 13-17th
Math MCA: Grade 3-5, April 20-24th
Science MCA: Grade 5, April 27-30th
Please encourage students to get a good night’s sleep and eat a good breakfast the morning of the test. Personal electronic devices, smartphones, watches, etc. are not permitted. If you have any questions, please contact Mollie Meyer (mmeyer1@isd77.org or 507-387-7889).
Thank you,
Mollie Meyer

Mankato Moondogs Reading Challenge
Moondogs Reading Challenge Update
We discovered that the Homerun Bookmarks sent home for the Moondogs Reading Challenge were printed incorrectly. Please refer to the diagram below for the correct prizes awarded at each base around the field.
Thank you for your understanding, and please remember to keep reading! Every 200 minutes of reading earns a prize as students continue around the bases.
Happy reading!
5th Grade visit to Dakota Meadows Middle School
Incoming 2026-27 middle school students will have an opportunity to visit the middle school their elementary school feeds into in late April and early May. These visits during the regular school day give students a chance to experience the building, meet staff, ask questions, and get a preview of what life as a middle schooler will be like.
During the visit, students will tour the school, learn about schedules and classes, and hear from staff and current students.(Not sure if this is true : ) The goal is to help students feel comfortable and excited about the transition to middle school.
More details, including specific dates for your elementary school student, will be shared with families as the visits get closer.
A FREE event for parents, educators, and business leaders!
2026-27 Class List:
Each spring, our staff engages in a thoughtful and comprehensive class placement process. An important part of this work includes gathering input from families who wish to share information about their child. While participation is optional, some families choose to complete a brief questionnaire to provide helpful insights. Please note that we are unable to honor requests for specific teachers; however, we truly value and consider the feedback you share as we work to create balanced and supportive class placements. Class placement will begin April 1, so please have questionnaire filled out before.
If you would like to participate, the questionnaire can be accessed here: https://forms.gle/S3ExnKxPqsxd1j389
Need to Know
New Menu Viewing Page
Nutrition Services will be moving to a new menu viewing page starting Monday, March 2. On the morning of March 2, we will be working as quickly as possible to post menus to the new site. I am attaching information for you to share with your families about the new website. Families will still log in to view menus by selecting the "Log in as a Guest" button.
The current March menus are available now on our website.
School Wide Title Update:
Parent-teacher conferences are an invaluable opportunity for you to connect with your child’s teachers, discuss their progress, and collaborate on strategies to support their learning at home. Attending these conferences allows you to gain insights into your child's academic strengths and areas for improvement. It also gives you a chance to share your observations and concerns, ensuring that we work together to provide the best possible education for your child.
Your involvement is crucial in helping us tailor our programming, including Title I programming, to meet the needs of our students. We look forward to seeing you at the conferences and continuing our partnership in your child’s education!
*Parent-teacher conference sign-up link will be sent out in the next couple of weeks.
