Miners in the Middle
February 24, 2025

Week of February 24th - March 1st
Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,
We have several important updates to share this week:
Calendar Update: The Snow Day originally scheduled for April 25 is now a regular school day. Please make sure to update your calendars accordingly.
Band Competition Results: We are proud of our band students who recently competed and represented our school so well! Isabella Polm, Toby Cawyer, and Kenleigh Valdez (in a trio with two freshmen) earned a 2 (Excellent) rating for their performances. The following students earned a 1 (Superior) rating:
- Zoey Cregan – Clarinet Solo
- Noah Ranallo & Wyatt Bedford – Saxophone Duet
- Aiden Teague – Trumpet Solo
- Archer Spears – Euphonium Solo
- Jacob Bedford – Trombone Solo
- Trowa Sander – Trombone Solo
- Jake Kitchell & Jacob Bedford – Brass Duet
Congratulations to all on a job well done!
Suicide Prevention Assembly: This week, we will have a special assembly focused on suicide prevention and mental health awareness. It’s important for students to know they are never alone, and there are always people ready to support them. If parents would like more information about the assembly, please feel free to contact the office on Tuesday.
Locker Clean-Out Reminder: We are seeing an issue, especially with 6th-grade lockers, where students are overstuffing them, causing lockers to jam—and let’s be honest, some are starting to smell! Please take time to clean out lockers regularly and only keep essential items inside.
Public Schools Week: This week, we recognize Public Schools Week, a time to celebrate the incredible students, staff, and families that make our school a great place to learn and grow. Public schools play a vital role in shaping the future, and we are proud of the work happening in our classrooms every day! Please see the email I sent out last Friday for more infomation.
Basketball Playoffs: Congratulations to our Miners and Lady Miners for making it to the next round of the playoffs! Let’s continue showing our support as they compete for a shot at State. Go Big Blue!
Pittsburg County Junior Livestock Show: This Tuesday through Saturday, several of our students will be competing in the Pittsburg County Junior Livestock Show. Best of luck to all participants, and thank you to the families and sponsors who support these students in their agricultural endeavors!
Thank you for staying informed and involved. Let’s have a great week and enjoy this beautiful weather!
Sincerely,
Nicole Green
Principal

HMS Building-Wide Expectations
Classroom Expectations
These are our school-wide expectations for our students. Positive behavior fosters an environment where ALL students can learn and grow. It is our hope that our HMS families will discuss our school-wide behavior expectations and encourage positive behaviors at school and home.
Common Areas Expectations
Our school-wide expectations extend beyond the classroom. It is important that students also realize they are accountable for their behaviors in the hallway, cafeteria and at all school sponsored activities on and off campus.
