Take Flight Update August 25, 2024 Take Flight Update August 25, 2024

Hi Everyone,

LHS is changing to a new format for our newsletters, so I will also be using it for Take Flight updates going forward. This is my first one!

We had two great days of training on August 20 & 21, and our mentors successfully built a vertical stabilizer. Here are some photos from the day:

There are many people to thank:

  • Dan Weyant from Tango Flight
  • Jeff Rapsis, The Aviation Museum Board members, and staff from the NH Aviation Museum
  • All of the mentors!
    • Dave Robinson for taking on the inventory challenge
    • Randy Britton for donating a flight simulator
    • Sanka Kiridena for donating a shop vac
  • Tom Moore and Bo Harwood who will be the co-teachers
  • Superintendent Amy Allen for her ongoing support
  • SAU 88 facilities director John Kerber - the hangar looks great!
  • SAU Tech Director Tyler Schena and others who install the technology tomorrow
  • Students Ben and James who stopped by during the training
  • Everyone who has made a donation to support Take Flight. We are overwhelmed with the community support!
  • Anyone I forgot - sorry.

The students return on Thursday, and the mentors will join us September 3rd to begin building the plane. We are so excited!

All the best,

Bonnie
