ELEMENTARY TRAFFIC PLAN

This page describes the process families should follow when picking up their child(ren) from school at the end of the day by vehicle. Families who pick up their child(ren) by walking should continue to meet them as usual. Our goal in defining this after school procedure for dismissal is to ensure that everyone leaves the school grounds in a safe manner. Please walk to the rectangle at the bottom of the steps to meet your child. We appreciate your attention to this matter.

PUNCTUALITY

Because habits instilled in children at a young age can become life-long, the elementary school policy regarding "tardiness" shall discourage the problem from becoming habitual. Students are encouraged to be on time for the beginning of morning and afternoon sessions in order that teachers can begin activities in good fashion. Students who are tardy should report to the office to “check in” and each instance shall be recorded. A “tardy” is defined as arriving to the building AFTER the 8:00am bell or not arriving to class prepared to begin by 8:00am or within 5 minutes of lunch/recess ending.

Students with excessive tardies (4) during a semester may result in "make-up" time as assigned by the teacher and a courtesy letter home informing the student's parents of the growing problem. An accumulation of two or more tardies for the school year will result in the loss of a perfect attendance record.

Check this out!

Check out this great new space in the elementary oak savanna! 3rd Grade Teacher Deb Molle put her Place Based Learning money toward benches (built by Kyle Carey), and the custodial staff (Steve Gorder, Dave DeVoe, Roger Palzkill, Ed Joestgen, Dan Graber) put in many hours clearing weeds, laying gravel, etc. We are excited for the learning that will happen here very soon!
