Anthony Pledge Drive
Anthony Panther Pledge Drive
Panther supporters, this is the official kickoff to our annual Pledge Drive Fundraiser โ We Need You! There is nothing to sell and no fun runs. Just give what you can! If all of our families giveโeven a small amountโwe can make a huge difference.
This year our pledge drive matters more than ever. Our incredible teachers and staff are requesting more support for classroom needs, and your donation makes it possible.
Funds go directly to essentials and enrichment like classroom supplies, paper, 3D printers, cooking & design class, field trips, yearbooks, Project Success, band, choir, art, and more.
Letโs beat last yearโs record! Please contribute whatever feels comfortable. Every donation counts!
Thanks so much!

Student Parent Teacher Conferences
Greetings Anthony Families,
Itโs time for Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences! Conferences are a great time to connect with teachers and to learn how your child is doing in school.
Conference dates and times this Fall are as follows:
Tuesday, October 14th 4:00pm - 8:00pm
Wednesday, October 15th 7:30am - 3:30pm
Key Information:
Conferences are by appointment only and will be held in the teacherโs classroom unless communicated otherwise by the teacher. Please note that all math conferences will be held in the media center room 204.
Due to limited conference slots, it is not possible to meet with every teacher. Only select your top 1-2 teachers/staff that you must see.
If slots are filled, reach out to the teachers(s) directly to arrange a time to connect via phone, video, or in person.
Attendance at conferences is not mandatory, but we encourage you to regularly check the Parent Portal to stay informed about your childโs progress.
Teachers may contact you directly if your child requires additional support or if there are any concerns.
The deadline to sign up for appointments is Monday, October 13th by 4pm.
Each appointment is limited to 10 minutes. For longer discussions, please arrange a separate time with your childโs teacher.
Please plan to arrive at least 5 minutes early as we may not be able to accommodate late arrivals.
It is not necessary to wait until conferences to connect with teachers and staff! Parents are encouraged to reach out to teachers, support staff, and case managers anytime throughout the year with any questions or concerns. You can find staff email addresses below.
Parent Portal Reminder: Stay updated on your childโs grades and attendance through the Parent Portal. If you need access, please contact the main office at 612-668-3240 or email julie.robertson@mpls.k12.mn.us or annie.smith@mpls.k12.mn.us.
Thank you for your partnership in your child's education!

7th Grade Language and Literature
7th Grade Language and Literature: As we all know, writing is a crucial skill that empowers our students to effectively communicate their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. To foster this essential skill, we have designed a project that will not only engage our students but also help them strengthen their descriptive writing abilities. The project in question involves creating a restaurant menu using vivid and expressive descriptive language.
Here's why this project is particularly beneficial for our students:
Enhancing Descriptive Writing Skills: Through this project, students will have the opportunity to experiment with language and learn how to use descriptive words and phrases effectively. They will need to choose words that paint a picture in the reader's mind, making their menu items sound irresistible.
Creativity and Imagination: Writing a menu allows our students to tap into their creativity and imagination. They will need to invent unique and enticing dishes, which will require them to think outside the box and come up with inventive names, descriptions, and even backstories for these creations.
Attention to Detail: Designing a menu requires careful attention to detail. Students will need to consider not only the names and descriptions of the dishes but also the layout and overall presentation of the menu. Students will be making this on paper, using craft supplies in class!
We are excited to see how our students will embrace this project and how their writing skills will develop as a result. Throughout the project, we will provide guidance and support, and we encourage you to engage with your child about their progress and encourage them to share their creative ideas with you.

Public Safety Panel
Safety & Emergency Drills
Safety and emergency drills are key to increasing staff and students' knowledge of how to respond to an emergency situation. They help prepare individuals to respond quickly, calmly, confidently, and safely should an actual critical incident take place. During the school year we conduct at least 5 fire drills, 5 lockdown drills, and 1 tornado drill. When possible, to avoid instructional disruptions, we hold our fire and lockdown drills back-to-back in the day.
Whenever we hold a drill, parents and visitors will need to wait outside until the drill is complete.

Attendance: How To
Parents and Guardians, we encourage you to report an absence of any kind using the Anthony Attendance Form. This form helps us keep quick and accurate records of your student's absences as reported by a legal guardian. You may also continue to send written notes with your student if you prefer that method. We strive to have documentation for each absence whenever possible.
Once you have filled out the form or written a note, tell your student to come to the Main Office and we will issue a green pass. This process: builds independence, reduces classroom disruptions, and ensures your student is ready for pick up in a timely manner. A parent will not have to come into the school to sign the student out if they have a leave early pass.
For more on the full attendance policy, including excusedโ versus unexcusedโ absence categories, see our Anthony Handbook.
You may reach out to Julie.Robertson@mpls.k12.mn.us, Office Assistant, for more details 612-668-3240. Website Contact - Anthony Middle School.
