RPI PulseNewsletterSeptember 25, 2022

A note from the principal's desk...

Good Afternoon RPI Families,

Homecoming is one of my favorite weeks of the year. Not only do we have spirit themed days going on but the anticipation of a Friday night football game seems to add extra excitement in the air.

This year, the band program is sponsoring a food truck rally before the game and many of the RPI staff will be tailgating too. We hope you stop out and say hi! Maybe take on Mr. Panozzo in a game of corn hole!

We are also running a coin war between each of the grades. See the picture below from our PTO. I can't wait for the 5th grade to beat the 6th grade! Did you hear that 6th grade families? The 5th grade families are planning on winning this in a landslide!

Like I sent and said last week, we will continue to reteach, remind and hold them accountable to "The Rocket Way...Respect. Pride. Integrity." in all they do. We ask that you do the same but consider using this model:

Respect: You don't always have to like the person, and even if they do / say something unkind to you, it doesn't mean that you have to "absorb" it like a sponge. Typically when someone is like that, it's because they have something really heavy going on in their life.

Pride: How can you treat someone with empathy and consideration even if you feel "wronged."

Integrity: Doing the right thing, even when no one is looking.

And one last thing....breath. If you pause and take 5 seconds before responding and a big deep breath, we can change how potentially negative interactions impact our lives.

Please reach out if you have any questions!

Have a great week everyone!

Scott

PM PE Message

Lately, We've been noticing many students wearing slides/flip flops, crocs, boots etc in PE. We want to encourage parents to send their students with a pair of tennis shoes for PE class -- even if it's an older pair of play shoes that they're able to leave in their lockers each day. As they begin to learn more advanced movements, it is critical that the students have proper footwear as safety will be the number one priority.

A message from our food service director

Please complete a school lunch application if your income has changed since you last filled one out or if you have not yet completed one this year. This information is super helpful for R-P funding, but also necessary for food service to have if an additional round of P-EBT cards go out. Complete the form online at lunchapp.com. THANK YOU!
