Windridge Elementary

Hello Wolfpack families, and parents,

We are approaching end of your testing season. In fact, some grades will begin testing next week.

In order for you to plan ahead there is a testing schedule below.

Here are some testing tips/ ideas and suggestions for you:

Build Confidence (Not Pressure)

Kids perform best when they feel supported—not stressed.

Emphasize effort over scores: “Just do your best.”

Remind them mistakes are part of learning.

Avoid comparing them to siblings or classmates.

💤 Prioritize Sleep

A well-rested brain works better!

Aim for 9–11 hours of sleep for elementary-aged kids.

Keep a consistent bedtime, especially during testing weeks.

Avoid screens 30–60 minutes before bed.

🍎 Healthy Start Each Day

Fuel matters more than people think.

Provide a balanced breakfast (protein + whole grains + fruit).

Limit sugary foods that can cause energy crashes.

Encourage hydration—send a water bottle if allowed.

📚 Keep Practice Light & Positive

No need to “cram” at this age.

Read together daily—even 10–15 minutes helps.

Practice basic math facts in fun ways (games, flashcards, apps).

Let them teach YOU something they’ve learned.

🧠 Teach Simple Test-Taking Strategies

Give them tools—not pressure.

Read directions carefully (and twice if needed).

Skip tricky questions and come back later.

Double-check work if time allows.

💬 Talk About Feelings

Normalize test nerves.

Let them know it’s okay to feel a little nervous.

Share a time you felt nervous but did okay.

Practice calming strategies like slow breathing.

🎒 Be Prepared Each Morning

Reduce stress with routine.

Pack backpacks the night before.

Lay out clothes ahead of time.

Arrive at school on time—no rushing!

🎉 Celebrate Effort

Make the end of testing something to look forward to.

Plan a small reward or fun activity after testing days.

Leave encouraging notes in their lunchbox or backpack.

❤️ Keep Perspective

Testing is just one snapshot—not the whole picture.

Your child is more than a score.

Skills like kindness, creativity, and perseverance matter just as much.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Respectfully,

Clayton Reid

Please plan ahead and help your child be in school during their testing times.

April is the month of the military child.

We will be celebrating our children with parents in the military.

We're grateful for our military families!

Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures:

Safety is never easy, but we must do it for the students at Windridge.

Drop-off:

Breakfast starts at 8:30.
Please do not drop-off kids before 8:30.

If you are in the drop-off zone, please be safe and let children out car doors towards the school.

Never leave your car in the drop off zone.

You may not park in the red bus zones. This is a habit we should start from the beginning of school. Please help us by following the signs and red painted areas.

When you drop off your student, they go straight to the designated spot and wait for their teacher to welcome them to school.
Please always drive slowly around our school and stay off phones! We want to be aware of children at all times.
On bad weather days, your student will know to come into the gym by a sign on the front dooR.

Arriving at School:

Lock up your bike or scooter in a slot in the bike rack.

On an outside day, line up with your class at the designated spot and wait for your teacher to welcome you to school.

Enter the building quickly and silently.

On an inside day, come through the front doors and line up with your class in the multi-purpose room. Please visit quietly and remain in line until your teacher comes to pick you up.

Pick-Up

Talk with your child ahead of time and have a designated place for you and your child to meet.

Please do not park in the red bus zones at any time. We will ask you to move.

Turn off your car while you wait.

Please always drive slowly around our school and stay off phones! We want to be aware of children at all times.

Sharing a personal message via video feels more heartfelt & is more likely to get heard/viewed, than writing a letter. If a picture is worth a 1000 words, a video is worth 1.8 million (we didn't make that up!)
