Mr Lisseman - Headteacher

Dear Parents & Carers

It’s been a brilliant Green Week at Twickenham School, with activities ranging from litter picking, tree planting and garden projects to assemblies, sustainable canteen options, and a tech-powered approach to reducing our footprint – all helping raise awareness across the school.

Year 10s have made a very strong start to their mock exams in the hall - we are so proud of them,

Year 11s are nearing the end of their GCSEs - keep going Year 11 - you are doing amazingly well. We can't wait for the prom next week on the 20th June.

Our Verona travellers returned full of stories and sunshine. They had an unforgettable experience exploring the history and culture of Italy, bringing their studies to life.

Around the school, the mystery of our next school production is building with musical clues and much speculation… all will be revealed soon!

A reminder that from Monday, summer uniform is still permitted – blazers can be left at home, but shirts must be tucked in while in the building or a detention will be issued. We've had two weeks of warnings in assembly and reminders; now it’s time to raise the bar and stay smart.

Student bulletin Student bulletin

Each Monday morning in tutor time, students and their form tutors review the weekly student bulletin. This is a round up of all the important information, notices and reminders that they need to know. The bulletin is also posted on the screens around school so they can refer back to it at any time.

The PTA needs your help to run the rugby parking this Saturday 14 June. This is a very valuable fundraiser and all proceeds go directly to support our students – including contributions toward exciting events like the upcoming Thorpe Park Trip.

Ms Cutting - Head of Year 7

This week, students took part in Green Week, a celebration of sustainability and caring for our planet. Each day focused on a different eco-friendly theme, encouraging everyone to make small changes that add up to a big difference.

🌱 Meat-Free Monday kicked things off with delicious vegetarian options in the canteen and discussions about the environmental impact of our food choices.
🧹 Tidy-Up Tuesday saw students roll up their sleeves to help clean and care for our school grounds. Everyone was welcome to join us as we gave our local area some TLC. We met outside Twickenham School reception at 3:30pm for a community litter pick. It was a great way to connect with others and help keep our local area clean.
🦔 Wildlife Wednesday focused on nature, with students learning about local species and creating bird feeders and bug hotels.
🚲 Travel Thursday encouraged everyone to walk, cycle, or use public transport to reduce carbon emissions.
😊 Feel-Good Friday rounded off the week with the opportunity to show support by wearing an article of green clothing to school. Donations were gladly accepted, and the money raised will be used to further beautify the outdoor area with plants. Donations can also be made via the school shop on Arbor.

Even the staff got involved with the green dress up!

Donate Books for Our School Library

Got any books you no longer need? It is perfect opportunity to help us refresh our school library by donating pre-loved books. Students, families, and community members are all encouraged to contribute and share the joy of reading. A drop-off point is available in our school reception area.

Donate Unwanted School Uniform
If you have school uniform items that were no longer needed, we welcome donations. A drop-off point is in the school reception, and your contributions made a big difference to other families in our community.

We loved seeing so many of you taking part in these events. Together, we made a real difference – for our school, our community, and our planet.

Year 8 HPV Vaccine Year 8 HPV Vaccine

A reminder that the HPV vaccine will be offered to Year 8 students in school on 17 June. Students are reminded to wear short sleep shirts that day as it is given as an injection to the upper arm.

All parents/carers must complete the consent form even if you choose to decline the vaccine. This is so that the Immunisation team knows you have received the message from them.

Ms Wilson - Librarian

We have created a Wish List of books that we would love to have in our library.

These books are by authors from around the world and cover a wide variety of topics supporting and providing further reading on personal, social, cultural and health education though the power of stories.

Thank you to all the parents who have purchased books on our wish list already. It's not too late to contribute towards our library to help foster a love of reading at Twickenham School. It’s quick and easy to order on-line and the books will be delivered directly to the school.

Every £1 spent will also raise a 20p donation for the school too!
