Redwood Middle School Community Message: Buying and Selling Items on Campus
We would like to remind all students that the buying, selling, trading, or exchanging of items for money is not permitted on campus at any time.
Students should never exchange money for items while at school. This includes selling snacks, drinks, candy, personal belongings, collectibles, electronics, clothing, or any other items. Unauthorized sales and purchases create distractions to learning, can lead to conflicts between students, and may raise concerns about the source or ownership of items.
Additionally, students who bring large amounts of cash to school may become targets for theft or other issues. For the safety of all students, money should only be brought to school when specifically requested for an approved school activity.
Please remember that students are responsible for any personal items they choose to bring to campus. The school cannot guarantee the security of personal belongings that are brought from home.
Our expectation is simple:
- No buying. No selling. No exchanging money for items.
We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a safe, focused, and positive learning environment for all students.

Supporting Safe and Focused Learning: New Student Device Policy for 2026-2027
Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, students will no longer be permitted to use personal devices, such as student-owned laptops and ipads, on campus. All students will continue to have access to district-issued chromebooks and classroom-based devices to support learning both at school and at home. This update is intended to create a more safeguarded and consistent learning environment for all students.
Moving away from student "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) for school instruction will help us:
- Improve online safety and strengthen cybersecurity protections for student accounts and data.
- Provide a more consistent classroom experience and reduce time spent troubleshooting different personal devices.
- Support classroom focus by reducing distractions from personal apps, games, and notifications.
- Improve network reliability and performance across school campuses.
- Allow teachers and schools to better support students using district-managed tools and systems.
We appreciate your partnership and support as we implement this transition. Additional details and guidance will be shared before the start of the school year.
