Join us for Ash Wednesday
At Baptism, the priest marks the forehead of the newly baptized with the sign of the cross using oil and says, “You are marked and sealed as Christ’s own forever.” This same cross is remembered on Ash Wednesday, when ashes mark our foreheads. The ashes remind us that we belong to God, and also that we are created from dust and to dust we shall return.
This is not morbid but instead, it is a call to faith — faith that this life, though precious, is not the end. It reminds us to live with purpose, gratitude, and humility. Life is a gift, and forgiveness is freely given through Jesus.
During this season of Lent, we are invited to repent, to simplify, and to declutter our lives — making room for the promise of new life even here on earth. We remember the story of creation, when humanity was formed from dust and given life through God’s breath. Lent calls us to allow God to breathe new life into us once again.
Please join us for the Ash Wednesday Eucharist in chapel on February 18th at 8:05am.
