Perth Road Track & Field Fun Day~ May 12th
This year, we have changed the format for our Perth Road Track & Field Fun day and are excited to welcome Sydenham High School's Recreation Leadership class and Mr. English to Perth Road to run our Fun day on Monday, May 12th (rain date May 14th). Students in grades 3 to 8 have already signed up for some events they would like to participate in and try. Students will arrive to school as normal and then head out to our school yard to meet the Rec. Team. This is a fun event, not a qualifying event for our track team. Parents that would like to volunteer at our school event, should reach out to their child's classroom teacher and ensure that they have a valid CPIC.
Track & Field Team Try-outs
Students have had the opportunity to express their interest in trying out and being a part of our school track and field team. An initial meeting with the coaches has taken place: Mrs. C. Aylesworth, Mrs. Shire (running), Mr. Dobiech (jumping events), Mr. Depew (high jump) and Mr. Lloyd (shotput).
Please note that attendance at tryouts and practices is important and one of the determining factor as to who will be part of the team. Students are responsible for making sure they listen to the announcements and/or consult the posted schedule at the top of the library and at the office, to know when their event practices/tryouts are.
Selecting students for track and field events will be a collaborative decision between the event coaches and conversations with the students.
Family members are welcome as spectators, to cheer athletes on at the regional meet on May 28th at CARACO field and for those who qualify, at the district meet on June 3rd. Please remember, LESAA athletics are for fun, healthy competition. All spectators at LESAA sanctioned events are expected to adhere to the following:
- Students are the number one priority
- Participation/fun, not winning, is everything
- Fans only cheer, coaches only coach, referees only referee
- No yelling in anger
- Respect the volunteer referees (they are often youth)
- No swearing
- Set a proper example for good sportsmanship
We look forward to a fun, enjoyable track and field season!

Student Accident Insurance
UNDER THE EDUCATION ACT THE BOARD IS NOT PERMITTED TO PROVIDE INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR ACCIDENTS TO PUPILS. THEREFORE, the Board recommends consideration of The insure my Kids plan to any parent/guardian, who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent/guardian and the insurance company.
For more information please visit the LDSB website.
School-Day: Permissions & Payments
Perth Road PS is excited to offer our families a secure portal to complete permissions and payments online. With School-Day: Permissions & Payments, you are able to complete permission forms and payments from any web browser using your SmartPhone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
Through this online portal, you will be able to pay for items such as:
- Field trips
- Athletic team fees
- Fundraising offerings
The easy-to-use portal will remove the risks associated with sending money to school with students, the frustration of lost or missing permission forms, and significantly reduce the amount of paper our school consumes.
Follow the link to www.school-day.com and connect to your child’s events and activities.
