Dear Parents/Carers,

This week has been extremely busy in school with many events taking place.

This Week This Week

Reading Mornings

This week we welcomed parents and carers into school for our reading morning. This is always a nice experience for both the adults and the children to sit and read together in the school environment. Thank you for coming.

Garden Club and JLT Bring and Buy Sale

This week our gardening club held their first plant sale and raised £77.00. Thank to you those who came and bought something from us. We are reinvesting the money straight back into the club for future purchases.

The Junior Leadership Team also held their first Bring and Buy sale. We raised £53.00 from the sale. All funds will be spent on resources and equipment for playtimes. We are hoping to do another sale at the Summer Fair. If you have any quality items that you no longer need, please bring them into school and we will happily sell them on for you.

Cooking Competition

Mrs Taylor recently launched a Cooking Competition for one pupil to be selected to spend the day in a professional kitchen in Leeds. Five dishes were blind selected this week. After the half term, the pupils will each prepare their dishes and a different panel will taste them to choose the final winner. Thank you to all those pupils who took the time to create an entry dish and well done to these selected five pupils:

Leo D – Y3, Harry B – Y4, Arthur T – Y5, Grace H – Y5, Fraser Mc – Y6

Pupil Achievement

This week I have been blown away for the written achievement from two of our pupils.

Lucy (Y1), wrote a wonderful story about a giraffe. The story was written beautifully with accurately used punctuation and sentences full of content. The story is very worthy of sharing. Well done Lucy!

Jude (Y3), has been learning about rivers in class. He was so interested in the ‘Worlds Rivers’, that his ‘Deepen the moment’ research, led him to writing a full page of interesting facts, again very worthy of sharing. Well done to both pupils.

On a final note, yesterday was Mrs Penty’s last day with us for a while. As many will know, Mrs Penty is expecting her second baby which is due in the next few weeks. We wish Mrs Penty and her family a very happy maternity leave and hope that she will come in to see us with baby very soon. Mrs Thorley will take up the job share position with Miss Whale in Year 5 after the half term.

I hope that everyone has a really enjoyable half term holiday. Please stay safe and we will see you from Monday 2nd June for the final term of the year!

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs Adams
