Kia ora Porritt School whānau,

It has been great welcoming all our amazing tamariki back to kura this week. What a first week it has been - capped off by our very first house kapa haka competition today - amazing!

Term 3 is shaping up to be a really special one with lots of our learning centring around 'Te Hītori o Te Kura' - the history of the school from 1975 to now. We will also be investing in finding out a little more about Sir Arthur Espie Porritt - the man our school is named after. This work will help our tamariki prepare for our 50th Jubilee in late October, and understand a little of the context of the kura they are such an important part of.

We have plenty to look forward to in the term ahead. I am very grateful to our kaiako, our dedicated teachers, for the work they have put in during the term break to plan and prepare, including a whole teaching staff callback day in Week 1, and team meetings in Week 2. I can attest, teachers certainly do put in the hard yards during term breaks. No rest for the blessed!

A reminder that all three of our Rich Records of Learning have now been shared about your child via Hero. You have some detailed information about your child's learning progress in Reading and in Writing and Mathematics and Statistics. Log in and check these Rich Records of Learning out ahead of your learning conference and ask any questions you might have about those during this time together.

There is plenty of information here about the term ahead. Please do enjoy catching up with the news here as we get underway again in Term 3.

Ngā mihi whakamiha - respectful regards,

Maaka Papuni - Tumuaki/Principal

Our Porritt School Board Triennial Elections take place this year on Wednesday 10 September.

Jo Hayes has been elected by Porritt School Board as our Returning Officer.

We have three vacancies in this round of Triennial Elections.

Call for Nominations

A call for nominations and nomination forms will be emailed to all on our main roll - these are parents or immediate caregivers. The main roll has now closed. There is a copy of all of those eligible for nomination at school should anyone wish to view this.

Nominations close at 12.00pm on Wednesday 6 August.

What are triennial elections?

Every three years, state and state-integrated school communities vote for the representatives that will govern their schools. Parents and caregivers elect parent representatives, and staff elect staff representatives.

We will be calling for nominations early in the term. More updates about nominations and the election will be shared soon.
