innovation, exploration, and community partnerships.
Message from the Principal
Hi CLA families,
We are halfway through the 1st Semester and time if flying by at CLAHS! We have hosted Friday engagement and support activities each week. We have implemented AVID Elective lessons and strategies into our curriculum and instruction. We have held schoolwide assemblies and participated in Spirit week. We have successfully planned and executed a fabulous Homecoming Festival. We also have an increased number of scholars participating in our Pathways Program this Fall. Plus, we have hosted 5 career chats and participated in a career fair, a college fair, and a career tour. This is all in addition to the most important work that goes into teaching and learning everyday--an incredible effort from our teachers and our scholars (and parents too!) What an amazing community we have here at CLA!
This week, our scholars were able to show off what they have learned during Mid-Terms. While this week may have brought on some additional stress, our scholars proved they CAN do it! Please take time to congratulate them for their efforts thus far. Now, here's to a strong second half!
Fall Conferences are right around the corner, and our goal is to meet with every family at CLAHS. The conference will consist of a meeting with the scholar's advisor, followed by time to meet with other teachers regarding course-specific questions as well. During the meeting with the advisor, we will review academic goals, progress, supports, and forecast courses for 2nd semester. We also ask that parents/guardians and scholars both attend the meeting. Please sign up for a conference with your scholar's advisor using the links below.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in serving your scholar. We are seeing tremendous growth here at CLAHS, and we are looking forward to more!
With gratitude,
Jennifer Evans

As the Academic Dean, Mr. Ortega works with CLA scholars to do just that!
Mr. Ortega assists scholars with course forecasting for CLA courses and college courses within our Pathways Program. He also works to bring in community partners to promote college and career opportunities locally.

Additional Supports
Academic Review
Every 3 weeks, CLA staff reviews scholar academic progress school-wide. We call this Academic Review. As we review the academic data, we look for ways to celebrate and to support our scholars. We also take this time to communicate with parents as needed.
In the next month or so, there will be an Academic Review on November 17th and December 15th. We encourage families to take notes of these dates as well. You can use these dates to celebrate and support your scholar too!
As part of this process, scholars in need of additional support, may be placed on an Academic Plan of Assistance, requiring daily on-campus attendance.
TutorMe
Our school is proud to announce that we’ve teamed up with TutorMe to offer 24/7 online tutoring to all students!
TutorMe is a place where our students can build the connections they need to learn and thrive. Through TutorMe, students connect with a tutor who’s an exact match for what they’re looking for – whether you’re stumped by an algebra equation, craving a confidence boost, or looking for an extra challenge.
Friday Support and Enrichment
Support: All teachers will be available for tutoring Friday afternoons from 1:00-3:30
Enrichment: Beginning in October, CLAHS will offer a hands-on or experiential learning opportunities each Friday for scholars who would like to sign up.
*See above for details.
Stay Connected
Parent support is invaluable! Although they may not always act like it, your high school student needs you now more than ever. CLA wants to help you keep that connection. Parents have found great success using the Canvas Parent App and the Crater Lake Academy App.
Canvas Parent App
We encourage our parents to download the Canvas Parent App to stay connected to student assignments, grades, and announcements.
