An Update from the Principal
Hello MHS Community,
I hope you are all well, safe, and will stay warm this week. Normal Solon Blocks all week at MHS. We are getting closer to the end of the semester. Please be sure to check in with your student and they are checking to see if they have been called back during Solon Block.
On January 25 and 26th, MHS will hold Wrap Up Days for courses where teachers will call students back through an adaptive scheduler for retakes or make-up work.
This is the email that will be going out to students describing the two Wrap Up Days:
As we get to the end of Semester 1, MHS is getting ready for Wrap-Up Days on January 25 and 26th. These two days are designed for you to be called back to retake summatives.
What does this mean for you?
- Teachers will schedule you on Thursday and Friday using Adaptive Scheduler.
- Teachers will call you back in your original Block 1-4 time on Thursday (Green Day) and Friday (White Day). Please do not request an alternate time for your retakes.
- You may also be called back during a free block or work lab block if you have more retakes to complete than fit within your class retake time.
- You do not need to be in class if you are not scheduled for a retake during that block.
- If you are scheduled for a make-up or summative, you must attend class during the scheduled block.
- Once you complete all of your scheduled retakes for the day, you are dismissed.
- Students will check their Adaptive Scheduler up to the day before being called back.
- Retakes completed on the 25th and 26th are your final summatives for the semester. Teachers will not be providing immediate feedback on retakes completed on the 25th & 26th.
- Breakfast and lunch will be provided
- The library will be open for quiet studying.
The semester ends on 1/26/24. This means that after Friday, January 26th, there is no option to complete work from Semester 1. Grades close on 2/2/24, and report cards will be mailed home the week of February 5th.
Sincerely,
Jason

Caregiver Group Updates
MRPS Partners in Education (MRPS PIE)
Hi All! Ever since Covid, MHS "Boosters"- the school's Parents/Caregivers group, (now called MHS Caregivers Alliance) has been dwindled down to the bare minimum. The small group of us who have stayed connected would like to revive some of the activities of the group and get more folks involved. We have created this survey to collect information and brainstorm ideas of how to move forward. We want to know who is interested, what ideas you might have, and what you would like to see the group accomplish over the coming years. If you could take a minute to fill this out... it would be much appreciated!
We are hoping to host a meeting of the minds in early February... so please get your responses in soon :)

CVCC Shadow Day
On Monday, January 22nd, from 8:30-12:30, students who applied to CVCC will be participating in CVCC's Shadow Day. This is the second step in their multi step application process and it is mandatory. You will have an opportunity to spend time in both the programs to which you applied. If you applied to only one program, you will visit the one and spend some time hanging out with Lissa and Amanda on site for the second half of the day, so please bring some work to do or a book to read.
Here are the details of the day:
Date: Monday, January 22nd
7:45: catch the CVCC bus from the MHS auditorium entrance
8:15-12:30: visit both programs
12:30: CVCC provides lunch
1:00: return by bus to MHS
1:45: attend 4th block at MHS
Finally, an important note and pro tip - CVCC decides whether or not you are invited to the next round of interviews (called Program Preview Day, February 23rd) depending on the impression you make at Shadow Day. So keep this in mind as you travel through the Shadow Day. Specifically - be attentive, respectful, engaged, curious, responsive to questions and ask questions, and stay off your phone :).
Any questions please ask Lissa or Amanda.
