King's Highway Elementary
October 19, 2026
King's Highway Families,
As we settle into another exciting week at school, we have a few reminders and events to share. Be sure to check out the photo of our growing Lost and Found collection below. If you recognize any items, please encourage your child to claim them soon! We also hope you'll join us this Thursday for our Fall Into Reading Night, where families can connect through sports-inspired reading adventures, engaging activities, and a celebration of literacy. We look forward to seeing our students and families there for an evening of reading, learning, and fun!

Garden Club
The King’s Highway Garden Club is seeking donations from families and community members to help beautify the school for the fall season and support ongoing garden projects. The club is collecting seasonal items such as pumpkins, hay bales, and corn stalks to create festive outdoor displays, as well as gardening supplies including pots of any size, child-sized gardening gloves, hand trowels, bird seed, shepherd’s hooks, smooth river rocks for painting, and acrylic paint. These donations will help students enhance the school grounds, participate in hands-on gardening activities, and create a welcoming environment for the entire school community. For more information or to arrange a donation, contact pandoshe@casdschools.org.
STEM Showcase
Hello Parents and Students, We are excited to continue our STEM Showcase this year! Last year’s event was a tremendous success, and we were so impressed by the creativity, curiosity, and enthusiasm our students brought to their projects. We saw an incredible variety of STEM ideas—from hands-on experiments and exploding volcanoes to amazing LEGO masterpieces, habitat displays, slime creations, and innovative engineering designs. All students in Kindergarten–5th grades are encouraged to build, design, experiment, create, and explore with a STEM project of their choice. Students may work independently or in a team of up to three students. What is STEM? What kind of project can I do?
- 🌎 S is for Science – Test a chemical reaction, conduct an experiment, build a model, or research an interesting question.
- 💻 T is for Technology – Program a robot, code a game, create an animation, or design a futuristic gadget.
- 🏗️ E is for Engineering – Build a prototype, construct a LEGO model, solve a problem, or invent something unique.
- 🔢 M is for Math – Find patterns in nature, design a game based on probability, explore symmetry, or investigate math in the world around you.
The first step is simple! Please complete the Interest Form by November 16th.
Important Dates:
- November 16th: Interest Form due
- January 11th: STEM projects due at school
- Week of January 11th: Student presentations (specific date TBD)
- January 20th: STEM Night @ 6pm
Lost & Waiting to be Found
Pro tip: Name on the tag
It must officially be jacket season because our Lost and Found is already filling up at record speed! Every morning starts with students bundled up for the chilly air, and every afternoon seems to end with a few jackets deciding they'd rather stay at school. If your child has been missing a sweatshirt, coat, water bottle, lunch box, or mystery item they swear they brought home, there's a good chance it's waiting to be reunited with its owner. Take a look at the photo below and see if you can spot anything familiar before our Lost and Found collection grows into its own classroom

Responsible Decision-Making
Children make many choices each day. Encouraging them to stop and think before acting helps build good decision-making skills.
Try Asking: "What might happen if you make that choice?"
Family Event This Week
Fall Into Reading Night October 22nd
Fall Into Reading Tailgate will bring King’s Highway Elementary School families together for a fun, welcoming evening that celebrates reading, builds strong home-school connections, and provides engaging literacy experiences for every child. As a Title I school, this event will help remove barriers to family involvement by offering a free, family-friendly celebration where students can enjoy books, games, food, and fall activities. Families will leave with the message that reading is something everyone can enjoy—at school, at home, and together.

Attendance Matters
Every school day counts! When students attend school regularly, they build strong academic habits, develop meaningful relationships, and stay connected to their learning community. At Coatesville Area School District, we encourage families to make attendance a priority whenever possible, as even a few missed days can result in important missed learning opportunities. Consistent attendance helps students grow academically, socially, and emotionally while setting the foundation for long-term success.
If your child will be absent, please notify the school office as soon as possible on the day of the absence. Upon your child's return, send a written excuse within three school days so the absence can be properly documented. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure your child is present, engaged, and ready to learn each day. Together, we can make every school day count!
