October 31 Update

Lewisburg Area HighSchoolOctober 31 Update

Hello,

On October 24th, we finished out the 1st quarter and are working to finalize grades this week for report cards. This weekend, we have cross country states and the boys' soccer district championship game on Saturday, November 1st. Good luck to both teams! This fall, 142 high school students participated in a fall sport, and many other students participated in other extracurricular activities and clubs. There are plenty of offerings, so please explore something at LAHS.

For students in grades 9-12, school is in-session on Friday, November 7th. All other grade levels do not have school because of parent-teacher conferences.

Quarter 1 Report Cards Quarter 1 Report Cards

This quarter marks the first time we are using the new 10-point grade scale with '+s' and '-s' that was approved last spring. Additionally, the high school has moved away from the 100-point grading scale and transitioned to a 4.0 grading scale. Attached, you will find the 4.0 system with honors and AP weighting, and you will find the letter grade breakdown.

Previously, Distinguished Honor Roll and Honor Roll were calculated using the 100-point grading scale. With the changes discussed above, here are the new parameters for recognition:

  • Distinguished Honor Roll: 3.9 and above
  • Honor Roll: 3.5-3.89

Lastly, Report Cards will be mailed on Wednesday, November 5th.

In March 2024, the orthopedic surgery department at Geisinger in Danville held our inaugural Future Women in Surgery Training Day in order to give local high school- and college-aged women and girls exposure to the medical field and specifically to the field of orthopedics. The event was very popular, so we are hosting our second event on Sunday, November 9th, 2025. This is a great opportunity for girls interested in science or medicine to learn about the fields and possibly find a new career goal. The event will be run by resident and attending physicians from the orthopedics department and will include lunch as well as hands-on training with real orthopedic equipment. It is completely free of charge.

This timeless comedy will be set during the Summer of Love in 1967, where Shakespeare’s Forest of Arden becomes a world of music, freedom, and self-discovery. Performances are scheduled for November 7th and 8th. Peace, love, and Shakespeare - don't miss it!

Clubs Clubs

Students have the opportunity to choose two clubs from around 65 different club offerings. Clubs meet for one hour weekly on a rotating basis (i.e. club A meets one week and club B the following week). Clubs provide opportunities for students to participate in extracurricular activities during the school day, to get academic support if they need it, or to enjoy a fun diversion with their friends.

Winter club sign-ups will begin on November 20th for Seniors. Juniors will sign-up on the 21st followed by Sophomores on the 24th and Freshman on the 25th. Prior to that, teachers will submit clubs for the winter session that will then be shared with students before their sign-up date.
