Fisher Family Update
January 26, 2024

Dear Fisher Families,
Since our students returned from the winter break, they have demonstrated an outstanding level of focus, hard work and resilience. We want to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the impressive efforts all our students, K-5, consistently demonstrate.
Whether it's tackling challenging assignments, actively participating in class discussions or the perseverance they show when presented with demanding assessments, their positive attitudes not only contribute to their own success but also to the incredible learning environment of our school.
As educators, we recognize and value the crucial role that parental support plays in a student's academic journey. We want to express our gratitude to you for fostering an environment at home that encourages and nurtures your child's love for learning.
We look forward to witnessing further accomplishments and growth of our students as we continue through the rest of this school year. Should you have any questions or if there's anything specific you would like to discuss, please feel free to contact your student’s teacher or me.
Please read through the rest of our newsletter for upcoming events and interesting updates.
Have a great weekend,
Brian

Fifth-grade students competed in individual homeroom competitions, culminating in the eagerly anticipated finals held in the afternoon in the auditorium. Congratulations are in order for all participants, many of whom went way out of their comfort zones to compete! A special acknowledgment goes to our finalists: Caellum, Izzy, Jonah, Saanvi, and Olivia.
Without further ado, we are thrilled to announce that the triumphant winner of the first-ever Fisher School Spelling Bee is: Caellum! Congratulations!
Battle of the Books update
Students in grade 3,4, and 5 have been reading an amazing number of books the past few months in anticipation of our Battle of the Books tournament. So far the students have read an astounding 1,923 books!!!! There is still time to read more before the tournament!
The Final Battle will take place on Thursday, February 8 during the school day. The day will begin with a Battle Breakfast provided by Walpole Food Services. All Battle participants will eat with their team and enjoy the provided breakfast or bring something to enjoy from home. Every one of the teams will participate in the first round of the tournament. The teams will be asked a series of questions about all 25 Battle books. Winning teams from the first round will then move onto the second round of the tournament. By the afternoon, four teams will remain and they will compete for the title of Battle of the Books Champion 2024!
There will be a special incentive and award for all students that choose to read and complete all 25 books. They will become members of our 25 Book Club! Any students that read 20 or more books will be able to compete for the Battle of the Books Scholar Award. This will be a written quiz on the day after the Battle for these students to show what they know and to recognize their hard work in reading so many books!
All of the students are really enjoying reading and discussing the 25 books on this year’s list and they have all pledged to read at least 3 books before the Battle Tournament. The books represent a diverse collection in topic, reading ability, and characters. There truly is a book for everyone!
