Tigers In the News
Veterans Day Celebrations
BTSD held Veterans Day celebrations across all of our schools to honor the men and women who served our country. There were spirited parades, Scoops for Troops ice cream events, class projects, and bulletin boards on display.
Most importantly, our students didn't just learn about veterans. They had the invaluable opportunity to interact and hear stories from veterans firsthand.
Veteran Staff Spotlight: Chris Hunt
In honor of Veterans Day, we thank Custodial Supervisor Chris Hunt, a U.S. Army veteran, and all veterans in the community for their service!
Born in Fort Dix, NJ, Hunt attended Lafayette Elementary School, FDR Middle School, and graduated from Bishop Egan High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1985, stationed in Mainz, Germany, for 18 months, and then at Fort Bragg, NC.
“I tell all the young men and women, the service is a great life. I traveled the world,” said Hunt. “The service is what you make out of it. It opened doors like no other.”

Joy Stickney-McDonald, PhD, LSW, SSW, HSV, School Social Worker at Mill Creek Elementary nominated Harvey for this award. No Longer Bound has provided educational prevention and training programs to BTSD students for more than eight years.
“Through a focus on conflict resolution, social skills, and drug prevention, students are taught in an empathetic and engaging manner, empowering them to make positive life choices,” said Stickney-McDonald. “The ongoing collaboration between No Longer Bound and BTSD has strengthened community connections and fostered a supportive environment where youth can grow and thrive. Achieving a 94% attendance rate
Mill Creek Elementary School held a PAWS assembly to celebrate students’ achieving a 94% attendance rate! Students also spent their PAWS bucks to silly string Principal Martesi!
The high-energy event motivated students to aim for 95% for the end of the year and achieve the statewide goal.
Truman SWPBIS
The Truman SWPBIS team went to Bensalem High School to share the Tiger Time scheduling transition and other MTSS and SWPBIS initiatives!
Bensalem H.S. hosted the Bucks County high schools for the day to share what they are all doing to support students, academically, behaviorally, with social skills, and career preparedness.
The staff who were in attendance were Jon Craig (Principal), Suzanne Denny (Student Success Advocate), Christine Welsh (Social Studies Teacher/ PBIS Coach), and Alex Brady (Mathematics Teacher/ PBIS Coach).
Class of 1975 Donation
Thank you to the Woodrow Wilson/Delhaas High Schools’ Class of 1975 for the donation to the Music Department at Truman High School!
To commemorate their 50th anniversary, they chose to donate $510 to the music program, which played a significant role in enriching their educational experience. The funds will be used to support music education initiatives to benefit current and future Truman students.

Around Our Schools
Tiger Twins are in Full Swing at Truman
Tiger Twins, an MTSS Tier 2 intervention, fosters positive relationships between our high school and middle school students! The program provides support around emotional regulation, goal setting, and identifying and using safe behaviors, places, and people.
Truman partnered with Armstrong and Franklin to develop and expand this program with the long-term goal of increasing cross-district unity, enhancing student experience, and providing opportunities for success and growth in multiple areas.
As a result of Tiger Twins, students feel more connected to school and it gives them opportunities to cultivate their leadership potential.
Breast Cancer Awareness at Armstrong & Franklin
Armstrong & Franklin both held Breast Cancer Awareness Walks to raise money for cancer research. Students dressed in pink shirts, shoes, sunglasses, tutus, and hats as they walked around their schools' tracks.
Elementary Title I Family Nights
All three elementary schools held Title I Family Nights featuring spaghetti dinners and math activities! The evenings included a presentation reviewing Title 1 programs, BTSD’s elementary math curriculum, and valuable online math resources. Every child also received math books and a take-home bag filled with math activities and resources to support continued learning at home. Thank you to all the families who joined us and everyone involved in making these events a success!

Round Up at the Register
Starting January 1 at the Levittown Giant (4001 New Falls Rd.)
BTSD is once again proud to be part of the GIANT Feeding School Kids initiative! From January 1 – March 31, you can round up at the register to support our school district’s efforts working to eliminate childhood hunger.
Through this initiative, BTSD and other public school districts can use funds to support meal programs to expand food distribution programs, create on-campus food pantries and gardens, supply extra weekend meals, and eliminate outstanding student meal debt.
Through last year's program, BTSD received $8,071.21 for our food service department. Let's raise even more in 2026!
