SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY COMMITTEE
Please read the meeting minutes from this quarter's meeting - LINK.
The purpose of the School Accountability Committee [SAC] is to inform, encourage and provide opportunities for parent and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school’s instructional program and quality improvement processes. The SAC makes recommendations concerning the school’s Performance, Improvement, Priority Improvement, or Turnaround plan, and meets at least quarterly to discuss implementation of the school’s plan and other progress pertinent to the school’s accreditation contract with the Board of Education. Final decision-making authority rests with the principal or other person or group receiving the recommendation from the SAC (e.g., The Superintendent, District Accountability Committee (“DAC”) or Board of Education).
BE EPICER @ CTE
At Cherokee Trail we focus on six traits, teaching and fostering them in our classrooms and school-wide in order to create learners who are strong academically and socially.
They are:
ENTHUSIASM * PERSEVERANCE * INTEGRITY * COURAGE * EMPATHY * RESPECT

In NOVEMBER we will be focusing on GRATITUDE. Gratitude means focusing on the good and being thankful for the things we have.
AT HOME: Discuss with your student: "Gratitude isn’t just for the month of November. It is all year long. Try to show gratitude each day, in either big or small ways."

FROM THE AP
Many of you are aware that fall is my favorite time of year. I love the color of the trees and the bright blue, crisp sky when you get up early in the morning. This month, as a school, we have been practicing gratitude and expressing it to others. This includes gratitude journals, staff members sharing who and what they are thankful for over the announcements, and teachers expressing gratitude for their students. I taught at a middle school that was very low-income, and that taught me the power of being thankful for even the most basic of things - especially for students! Personally, I continue to be thankful to be at Cherokee Trail and to be part of such an amazing team. I am also grateful for our wonderful students and families. I always enjoy supporting our kiddos and partnering with families. I value your support and care. I am, of course, thankful also for my family, our home, and that we have our needs (and some wants) met.
I hope that each of your families has a safe and enjoyable break with lots of rest and relaxation. I also look forward to seeing each of our students (and families) back safe at Cherokee Trail at the end of break!
THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES
The Principal Chronicles continue ...
We have arrived at my annual Thanksgiving Chronicles. There are so many things to be thankful for. I am so lucky to be a part of this school and this community. This is my 12th year, and even after all of this time, I still love this school and each and every one of our students as though they were my own.
I am thankful for:
- A dedicated and hard-working staff who always put the needs of our students before their own
- A supportive and understanding school community who do whatever we ask of them in order to help our students
- A fun and pretty darn cool group of students who come to school every day ready to learn
- A daughter who has grown up too fast and turned into more than I could have hoped for
- My parents who still call me once a week to make sure I am eating enough (clearly I am) and sleeping enough
- My CrossFit gym
- Spinach and fruit
- Vans
- Swatch watches
- My health
- All of my loyal readers
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I appreciate all of you more than you know. That is it for this weeks episode, stay tuned for next week when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
