East Avenue Middle School is exploring a possible change to how Chromebooks are provided and used by students. Currently, each student is issued a Chromebook that travels with them throughout the school day and goes home each evening and weekend.

We are considering a classroom-based model in which Chromebooks would remain at school in classroom carts and be available when technology is needed for instruction. This approach could help reduce unnecessary student screen time, eliminate the need for students to carry Chromebooks throughout the day, and reduce lost devices, broken screens, and other damage.

Before considering any change, we want to hear from our families. Your feedback will help us better understand how students use their school-issued Chromebooks at home, the potential benefits or challenges of a classroom-based model, and whether this is a direction our school community would support.

Chromebook Survey for Parents

• Attention all girls interested in basketball. Open gyms and basketball tryouts will start next week. Make sure you have a physical on file in the office.

• Open gyms will be Monday (10/19) and Tuesday (10/20).

• 6th grade will be 3 to 4.

• 7th grade will be 4 to 5.

• 8th grade will be 5:00 to 6:00.

• Tryouts will be Wednesday and Thursday at the same time.

• 6th grade 3:00 to 4:00

• 7th grade 4:00 to 5:00

• 8th grade 5:00 to 6:00.

Join us for Fall Fest on Saturday, October 24th, from 6:00–9:00 p.m.! Enjoy an evening filled with food, games, music, and more!

Costumes are fun but optional! If you choose to wear a costume, please make sure it is school appropriate.

Entrance Tickets

The entrance fee is $5.00 per person. Tickets can be pre ordered through our school website until Wednesday, October 21st. Students who pre order tickets will receive their wristbands on Thursday, October 22nd.

After October 21st, entrance tickets will be available for cash purchase only at the door. Exact change is appreciated and will help keep the line moving quickly!

Food, Games & Haunted House Tickets

Once on campus, tickets for food, games, and the haunted house can be purchased at the ticket booth.

Please note: Separate lines will be available for cash and credit card purchases.

I cannot stress enough the importance of getting this insurance. Your kids walk around with chromebooks everyday and don't always treat them well. From accidentally dropping them, throwing their backpacks around with their chromebooks inside, and just random things that happen, this insurance covers it.

Our District has partnered with School Device Coverage to offer parents optional, affordable insurance coverage for 1st through 12th-grade students’ LVJUSD-issued Chromebooks. (TK and Kindergarten students use a class set of Chromebooks when needed and are not issued individual devices. This coverage does not apply to students in TK or Kindergarten.)

Replacement costs without insurance can be as costly as $399 per device. School Device Coverage offers two policies, Basic and Expanded.

Coverage can be purchased through October 31, 2026, to insure your student’s Chromebook through July 31, 2027. (Coverage of device begins after the purchase of a policy has been processed and MUST be purchased before any damage occurs.)
