Anahi Marquez is an amazing person and an incredible social worker. When I started as a new teacher, I was very nervous, but Anahi was one of the first people to give ample support and encouragement, which helped alleviate some of my anxiety surrounding such a big professional transition. Even now in my second year, she continues to be a wonderful source of support and wisdom, always willing to help when I have questions about behaviors or input for IEPs. Anyone who has the pleasure of working with her knows that her years of education and experience come with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in her field that benefits all students and staff. She brings a calming energy and warmth to the classroom that allows students to build strong relationships with her and allows staff to feel comfortable coming to her with questions. Anahi is always ready and willing to help, collaborate, and communicate with colleagues. Her professionalism is admirable, her dedication to the students is inspiring, and she is definitely a huge asset here at Conlee. She deserves so much recognition and praise for all that she is, all that she does, and how effortlessly she executes it all.

Anahi Marquez es una persona increíble y una trabajadora social excepcional. Cuando comencé como nueva maestra, estaba muy nerviosa, pero Anahi fue una de las primeras personas en brindarme amplio apoyo y aliento, lo que ayudó a aliviar parte de mi ansiedad frente a una transición profesional tan grande. Incluso ahora, en mi segundo año, sigue siendo una fuente maravillosa de apoyo y sabiduría, siempre dispuesta a ayudar cuando tengo preguntas sobre comportamientos o necesito aportes para los IEPs. Cualquiera que tenga el placer de trabajar con ella sabe que sus años de educación y experiencia vienen con una gran cantidad de conocimiento y experiencia en su campo que beneficia a todos los estudiantes y al personal. Ella aporta una energía calmante y calidez al aula que permite a los estudiantes construir relaciones sólidas con ella y permite que el personal se sienta cómodo acudiendo a ella con preguntas. April is Autism Awareness Month, and at Conlee, we are proud to celebrate the incredible diversity that makes our school community so special. Every one of our students brings unique strengths, perspectives, and talents that help make Conlee stronger each and every day.

This month, we honor and uplift our students with autism by promoting understanding, acceptance, and inclusion. Together, we continue to build a school culture where every Colt feels seen, valued, and supported. Let’s celebrate kindness, embrace differences, and continue to show what it means to be a Conlee Colt!

Abril es el Mes de Concienciación sobre el Autismo, y en Conlee, estamos orgullosos de celebrar la increíble diversidad que hace que nuestra comunidad escolar sea tan especial. Cada uno de nuestros estudiantes aporta fortalezas, perspectivas y talentos únicos que ayudan a hacer de Conlee un lugar más fuerte cada día. Este mes, honramos y elevamos a nuestros estudiantes con autismo promoviendo la comprensión, la aceptación y la inclusión. Juntos, continuamos construyendo una cultura escolar donde cada Colt se sienta visto, valorado y apoyado. ¡Celebremos la amabilidad, abracemos las diferencias y sigamos mostrando lo que significa ser un Colt de Conlee!

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 4–8, 2026, with Teacher Appreciation Day on Tuesday, May 5th, and we would love your help in celebrating our amazing LCPS teachers!

This spring, each month Conlee will highlight how we are connecting classroom learning, family and student engagement, and community partnerships to support the LCPS Graduate Profile.

The LCPS Graduate Profile describes the important skills and qualities students are working toward as they grow such as thinking skills, personal responsibility, and working well with others to help prepare them for success in school and beyond.

The Graduate Profile was created with input from families, staff, students, and community members across the district, and it helps guide teaching and learning in all LCPS schools. At Conlee, we are excited to show families how these skills are being built through fun, meaningful, and community-connected activities.

Este primavera, cada mes, Conlee destacará cómo estamos conectando el aprendizaje en el aula, la participación de la familia y los estudiantes, y las asociaciones comunitarias para apoyar el Perfil de Graduado de LCPS.

El Perfil de Graduado de LCPS describe las habilidades y cualidades importantes que los estudiantes están desarrollando a medida que crecen, tales como habilidades de pensamiento, responsabilidad personal, y la capacidad de trabajar bien con otros para prepararlos para el éxito en la escuela y más allá.

This month at Conlee, our LCPS Graduate Profile focus is “Solving Problems.” In Kindergarten through 2nd grade, students are learning that problem solving means finding solutions to challenges by trying different strategies and not giving up. Students practice identifying a problem, thinking of possible solutions using what they already know, and choosing the best way to solve it. They also learn to reflect on whether their solution worked, collaborate with classmates, persevere when things feel difficult, and ask for help when needed.

For 3rd–5th grade students, problem solving becomes more advanced as they use creativity, critical thinking, and knowledge to tackle challenges in the classroom and beyond. Students will work on skills such as:
• Identifying and clearly describing a problem or challenge
• Using prior knowledge and logic to generate multiple possible solutions
• Evaluating options and choosing the most effective solution
• Implementing their solution and reflecting on how well it worked
• Explaining their thinking and collaborating with peers to solve problems

These skills help our Conlee Colts become confident learners who can think critically, work together, and approach challenges with persistence and creativity.

Este mes en Conlee, nuestro enfoque del Perfil de Graduado de LCPS es “Resolver Problemas.” En Kindergarten hasta 2º grado, los estudiantes están aprendiendo que resolver problemas significa encontrar soluciones a desafíos probando diferentes estrategias y no rendirse. Los estudiantes practican identificar un problema, pensar en posibles soluciones usando lo que ya saben y elegir la mejor manera de resolverlo. También aprenden a reflexionar sobre si su solución funcionó, colaborar con compañeros de clase, perseverar cuando las cosas se sienten difíciles y pedir ayuda cuando sea necesario.

Para los estudiantes de 3º a 5º grado, la resolución de problemas se vuelve más avanzada a medida que usan la creatividad, el pensamiento crítico y el conocimiento para enfrentar desafíos en el aula y más allá. This is a fun and healthy way to start the day, get some exercise, and enjoy time with classmates and families as we walk together to school. We’d love to see our Conlee Colts showing their school spirit while promoting safety and wellness. Be on the lookout for Mrs. Boyd in her fun safety outfit—she’ll be cheering everyone on along the way!

Esta es una forma divertida y saludable de comenzar el día, hacer ejercicio y disfrutar tiempo con compañeros de clase y familias mientras caminamos juntos a la escuela. ¡Nos encantaría ver a nuestros Conlee Colts mostrando su espíritu escolar mientras promueven la seguridad y el bienestar!
