Veteran's Day at BRHS
Capturing Kids' Hearts November Focus: Teamwork
As you probably know, BRISD is a Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) school district. As a part of our efforts to help our students learn about and exhibit certain character traits, we will be focusing on a specific trait each month. We will also be sharing a newsletter with you so that you will know what your student is learning about.
This month we’re challenging students to work together toward a common goal and shared purpose. We are partnering with you to grow and develop teamwork in your child. We can do this by modeling gratefulness, acknowledging positive moments, and affirming each other. Use this month’s activities to practice working together and celebrate your family as a team.

Counselor's Corner
Hello BRHS Families!
We have several different updates for you this month.
Dual Credit registration for the Spring 2023 semester is now being done by Mrs. Kristin Lee, our Collin College Counselor. Students should check their emails for the courses they are registered for for the Spring 2024 semester. The BRISD dual credit payment deadline for Spring 2024 courses is Wednesday, December 6th, 2023! All balances must be paid by this date, or students will be dropped from their classes.
We are looking forward to welcoming area veterans and community members at our upcoming Veteran's Day program. We will celebrate Veteran's Day with a school wide assembly on November 19, 2023. During this assembly, we recognize the family members of Blue Ridge ISD students, faculty, and staff that have served our country in the Armed Forces. In order to recognize your family member on the slide presentation, please fill out the following information. Please include a photograph of the person, preferably in uniform or fatigues. Information sheets and photos must be returned no later than Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Click here to have your veteran included in the slideshow.
BRHS will be hosting a TSI Test Boot Camp on Friday, November 3, 2023. The TSI test is a requirement for anyone interested in taking dual credit classes next year, and for enrolling in any college classes at public universities in Texas after graduation. Sign up with Mrs. Ingersoll to participate in this free bootcamp and learn strategies to increase your score in reading, writing, and math- This can save you lots of time and money when it comes to taking college classes. Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, November 1. TSI testing will take place for students the following week.
Does your student have accommodations on a 504 or IEP Plan?
Approval by the College Board’s Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) is required before students can take the SAT or PSAT/NMSQT, exams with accommodations. School 504's and student IEP's do not transfer over to College Board testing automatically and documentation must be collected for students to receive their accommodations.
Please fill out the attached document and send to Mrs. Ingersoll for processing. College Board approval can take up to 8 weeks for approval, so please return ASAP if this pertains to your child.
Apply Texas Suite:
The Apply Texas application is a great way to apply to almost all Texas colleges and universities in one place. This Apply Texas Checklist is a great place to start! Or check out the Six Steps to Completing the Apply Texas Application.
Seniors and Senior Parents- Just a reminder that the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is getting an overhaul this year. Please see the attachment for an updated overview. We are also having 2 FAFSA 101 nights coming up to help navigate the process, so please mark your calendars and see the attached poster for details.
