Dear SBMHS families,

Thank you for a great first week of school. A few reminders to help keep our classrooms focused and safe:

  • Dress code: Please ensure students wear safe, modest, and non‑offensive clothing. Clothing with images or messages promoting drugs, alcohol, weapons, hate, or gang affiliation is not allowed. Avoid overly tight, revealing, or see‑through items and clothing that exposes undergarments. Headgear, sunglasses, and sleepwear are not permitted. Shoes are required; bedroom slippers are not allowed. (CCSD Policy JICA-R)
  • Cell phones and devices: From arrival until the end of the instructional day (7:15 AM–3:15 PM), students should not have access to personal electronic devices. “Access” means viewing, holding, wearing, or using a device for calls, internet, gaming, recording, or similar functions. Devices should be powered off and stored as directed by teachers/staff in lock boxes. Written exceptions are allowed for medical reasons or authorized classroom use. (CCSD Policy JICJ)
  • Arrival and SOAR Time: Middle school students who arrive by 7:15 AM can have breakfast and be ready for SOAR Time at 7:30 AM. High school students should arrive by 7:30 AM to eat and be in class by 7:45 AM. SOAR Time is an important schoolwide period. In middle school, SOAR time during homeroom offers targeted support and enrichment to close learning gaps and strengthens skills. At the high school level, SOAR time is a focused 25-minute block for intervention, small-group instruction, and exam preparation.

Thank you for partnering with us to prepare our scholars for college and career success.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wells, Principal
