MusicAid Announcements

Honoring Mrs. Martin

MusicAid would once again like to honor the memory of Mrs. Arlan S. Martin.

Mrs. Martin was a resident of Raphael House, where MusicAid has held concerts since 2023. She especially enjoyed attending MusicAid performances and became a warm supporter of our young musicians.

Following her passing, Mrs. Martin’s family generously donated her extensive collection of piano sheet music books to MusicAid. Her collection has since found new homes with many young musicians who perform with MusicAid, allowing her love of music to continue inspiring the next generation.

Mrs. Martin was much more than a talented musician. She earned master’s degrees in Piano and Violin and also studied at the Juilliard School. She was a supporter of MusicAid and enjoyed attending our concerts. We are deeply grateful to Mrs. Martin and her family for their generosity and for giving these pieces of music a chance to live on.

You can watch Mrs. Martin perform on the piano at ages 92 and 93 on her tribute wall. Her memory and love of music will continue to live on through the many young musicians who now have her music in their hands.

She will be dearly missed.

Piano Lessons

MusicAid prides itself in its mission to spread the joy of music by making it more accessible. Over the past few years, we have mainly performed at various venues, as

well as provided free piano accompaniment to any performer in need.

Recently, MusicAid took on a new endeavor: instrumental lessons. A Baltimore counselor recently reached out to us, requesting our help in assisting an 11 year old girl's journey learning piano.

Ella has already began with teaching lessons. Excitingly, another prospective student has contacted us for learning piano. We are so excited to extend our impact and help more young artists with their first steps in music.

MusicAid Updates

Zhiyin Music Initiative

This past summer, MusicAid was able to send some of our volunteers on the Zhiyin Initiative. This camp is organized by the US-China New Perspectives Foundation and gives 30 students the opportunity to travel to multiple cities in China for two weeks of music, cultural exchange, and fun.

Our volunteers were able to visit many tourist locations in China, try delicious authentic Chinese cuisine, and showcase their musical talents! These exciting locations included Changzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing. Our performers were able to visited some infamous Chinese landmarks such as the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City. View some photos of their exciting adventures on the left!

JSSA Performance

Recently, the Jewish Social Services Agency reached out to us to request piano accompaniment for their chorale program in fall. We are more than happy to provide free accompaniment for this wonderful event. The event will take place on November 22nd, with an estimated audience of around 100 people.

This will mark our second collaborative effort with the JSSA. e are especially grateful for the opportunity to continue building upon this relationship and to support JSSA’s mission through the power of music.

At MusicAid, we believe music is not only artistic expression, but also a way to bring people together. So we are proud to form meaningful connections with organizations throughout our community.

We are incredibly excited for this upcoming event and look forward to working further with even more organizations in our community.
