Chalmers student honored by the City of Gainesville!
Chalmers 4th grade student, Elvira Martinez, was recently honored by the City of Gainesville for her bravery and courage calling 9-1-1 to report a house fire. She was presented the Star of North Texas Medallion. The Star of North Texas Medallion recognizes individuals whose actions place community first and help protect or enhance the lives of others in Gainesville. GFR also initiated a nomination for the Texoma Council of Government 9-1-1 Kid Hero Award. TCOG agreed and recognized Elvira for "bravely calling 9-1-1 when seconds count."
We can't go without acknowledging the continuous partnership and Gainesville Fire-Rescue’s fire prevention programs, which teach children how to respond during emergencies.
Special Olympics March 28
It's Special Olympics time! There are two local meets that our GISD athletes will be attending. Our first meet will be at Leopard Stadium on March 28th and we would love to see a big crowd! It is being hosted by the Cooke County VIP's and the Cooke County Bulldogs.
The second meet will be at Bobcat Stadium in Krum on April 25th. Both meets will have an Opening Ceremony that will begin at 10:00. Show your support for our students with a Special Olympics shirt! All orders are due by 3pm on March 16.

GISD Job Fair!
We can't wait to meet you! This job fair is for any and all positions at GISD. Campus and District administrators and teachers from all campuses will be there ready to meet you, share more about our district, and answer any questions you have about teaching/working in GISD.
Apply online prior to the job fair, bring copies of your resume, and be prepared for a possible interview the same day!
If there isn't currently a job for which you qualify, come anyways! New jobs will be added as they become available and you'll be one step ahead if we have your resume.
The event is come-and-go from 9 - 11:30am
Nominate at GISD staff member for a High Five Award!
The Leopard High Five program is a way to salute any Gainesville ISD employee who goes above and beyond for our students, staff, and community. Whether you are a parent impressed with a specific interaction with your child, or you are a coworker who thinks the campus secretary doesn't hear often enough about the great job she is doing - you can send a Leopard High Five! Nominations can be made by any staff member, parent, or community member, and any GISD employee is eligible to be nominated for a High Five.
All nominations should include a specific example of how this staff member has gone above and beyond for a student, a peer, or the community and must align with one or more of our GISD core beliefs: Equity, Excellence, Diversity, Innovation, Partnership, Safe and Comfortable Environment.
