November 1st, 2022

Welcome to November!

November is a busy, transitional time in the school year. One event we have coming up that I'd like to highlight is what we call Senior Conference. This will be our third year putting on this event for our seniors. Our goal is to give our seniors a professional-style conference with life-ready topics and breakout sessions as they consider life after high school.

As previously stated, I hope this newsletter is another avenue to help you stay informed throughout the school year. We want to ensure you know what's going on, so please stay informed and let us know what we can do to help your child succeed here at school. Check out the bottom of the newsletter for info on several upcoming events.

Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions

  • When are Picture Retakes? As you've likely noticed, there has been a delay in us receiving our first batch of school pictures. We're told to expect them very soon. Because of that, we've rescheduled Picture Retakes for November 14th.
  • When does Jostens come and what is it for? Jostens will be here on Friday, November 4th to meet with sophomores about Class Rings & seniors about Graduation-related items. Students will be sent home with informational packets about options, parents do not need to attend those meetings. They will return on Monday, November 7th to take orders in-person.
  • What is the Semester Test Exemption policy again? We have attempted to simplify this policy. Students qualify first by attendance: 4 absences or fewer (combined half & all day absences, not by period). Once qualified by attendance, students will be exempt from all classes in which they have an A or a B.
  • When and how will we be notified if our child is exempt from some or all Semester Tests? As always, letters will be mailed home for all qualifying students and teachers will notify students once those reports are run in December, the week prior to Semester Tests.

FFA

Our FFA chapter is one of our largest student organizations, serving 97 students. Jimmy Epperson, our Ag teacher and FFA sponsor, helps provide a well-rounded experience for all the students, regardless of interests across the agricultural and leadership spectrum. Whether it's showing or judging livestock, serving and educating the youth and community, tackling leadership conferences and speech contests, or learning more about horticulture and animal science, these students are always busy and productive.

Just last week, these students set up and ran a petting zoo for the elementary students. The students were given the opportunity to pet pigs, rabbits, sheep, goats, donkeys, and a cow. They also played games and had a story about beef production. Each elementary students went back to class with a coloring book, crayons, candy, and a smile.
