Parent-Teacher Conferences
Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Keller
I grew up just over the state line in Michigan but have officially been a Hoosier for almost 25 years now. I have 4 kids and 3 grandkids. I am a proud Guard mom to my youngest daughter and my husband Rich, and I try to never miss a competition or performance for all of the Color Guard and Winter Guard seasons. When I am not at Guard events, I love to travel, read, re-watch the same shows I have seen a million times, kayak, and go camping. I am a huge music fan and pretend I am a rock star every day in my car. My happy place is the beach, and I hope to live by one someday. One fun fact - Elvis (an impersonator) walked me down the aisle at my wedding in Las Vegas and then sang three songs as part of the ceremony. Not sure if kids today even know who Elvis is anymore though. π©
I am super excited to be a Redhawk and am really enjoying being on the GJHS Team. What do I like most about having a position at a school? It's NEVER boring! I try to live by the advice I heard once, "be the adult a younger you might have needed." My other favorite saying is, "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." With those two mottos in mind is how I try to show up every day.
Attendance Matters!
Why Attendance Matters: Indiana's expectation is for every student to attend school at least 94% of the time (missing no more than 10 days all year). To learn more about Indiana's K-12 Accountability Model for Students, visit this link:
https://www.in.gov/doe/accountability/indianas-accountability-model-families-students/
When students are at school consistently, it helps them:
- Build Confidence: Stay connected with friends and feel comfortable in class.
- Stay Excited About Learning: Keep up with daily activities without feeling overwhelmed or behind.
- Set Up for Future Success: Build great habits that support them as they grow.
We Are in This Together! If your family is facing any challenges getting to school, whether it's morning routines, health concerns, transportation, or anything else, please let us know. We are here to support you and find solutions together.
Thank you for partnering with us to give your student the best school experience possible!

Indiana High School Diploma
At GJHS, we are starting to have conversations with students about the new Indiana Diploma as they prepare to go to high school in the next couple of years! This link will show the Indiana High School Diploma. This would be a resource for you to explore with your student!
Attention, Theatre Arts Parents!
Advanced Theatre Classes will perform downtown at Goshen Theater on Nov. 4th. The show starts at 7pm. Tickets are $3 (cash only) and sold at the door. Please drop off your performer by 6:15pm to get into costume and have time for makeup.
Beginning Theatre Classes will all attend the Advanced show on Nov. 4th. Students are required to be there by 6:45pm. They should wear their lavender t-shirts to get in for free. If parents/friends come with students, they will need to pay $3 per ticket. Theatre students will sit with their class and be supervised by an adult.
All theatre students will be required to turn off their phones and turn them into their supervising adults for the duration of the show. Once the show concludes, we will take group yearbook photos; then, phones will be returned. Please pick up your students in front of the theater on main street at 8:30pm. Students are instructed not to wander from the front of the theater building for safety reasons.
π€ RedHawks Robotics Is Taking Off!
GJHS is excited to launch RedHawks Robotics! Students in grades 7β8 will have the opportunity to build, design, program, problem-solve, and compete using VEX Robotics. You donβt have to be a programmer to be part of the team! There are opportunities for builders, strategists, designers, communicators, and more.
RedHawks Robotics meetings began September 22 and are held Tuesdays from 4:00β5:30 PM.
Transportation: Students may be picked up at 5:30 PM by a parent/guardian. Students who do not have transportation available at 5:30 PM will need to ride the 5:00 PM bus home. Students riding the 5:00 PM bus will leave robotics in time to board the bus.
We are excited to build this program with our students and see what they can create! π οΈπ€π

Our goal is to help students understand and evaluate appropriate settings for formal vs. informal attire, which is a skill they will use in the world beyond school. Students will see this addressed starting on the first day of school.
We appreciate parents working with us on this. If you have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact an administrator.
