To Know, To Do, To Be The Best!

McEachron Families-

We hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Our custodial staff has been working hard to prepare spaces and classrooms, move items, and prepare for the upcoming school year. We are very thankful for their hard work, as well as the district facilities/IT staff for helping us move items and complete other projects such as painting, moving technology, and more!

Thank you to all of our families who have already registered for the upcoming school year. If you have not done so already, please register for the upcoming school year. The links and directions are included below.

In our newsletters, you will find important information for the upcoming school year. We will share positive behavior awards, attendance, dates, and other information. If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

As a reminder, our administrative staff is off duty until July 12th. We will return to the office on Monday, July 13th.

I am looking forward to the upcoming school year!

We are excited to introduce a new event this year, Pastries with Parents, beginning at 9:00 AM! ASQ- Kindergarten and Preschool Families Only ASQ- Kindergarten and Preschool Families Only

Please be on the lookout for communication from Mrs. DesJardins and Ms. Fyler in July. Beginning July 1, we will start collecting Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) information for all preschool and incoming kindergarten students.

Families of incoming preschool/kindergarten students will be asked to complete the ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 surveys. These questionnaires provide valuable information about your child's development and school readiness and are required by the state of Kansas.

Thank you for helping us prepare for a successful start to the school year!

Attendance Policy Attendance Policy

It is important that your child attend school each day to have a consistent educational program. Of course, illness or other family emergencies can cause absences. If your child will be absent please let us know by contacting the office at 785-438-4430.

Research shows that the single greatest factor contributing to student achievement is school attendance. School hours are 8:40 AM โ€“ 3:40 PM (M-Th) and 9:30 AM โ€“ 3:40 PM (On late start Fridays). Doors will open at 8:20AM Monday-Thursdays, and 9:10 on Fridays. Students will enter the classrooms at 8:30 M-Th and 9:20 on late start Fridays.

Absences/Tardies

Monday โ€“ Thursday, if a student arrives after 9:00 AM, they will be counted absent for one full period. Students who arrive after 8:40 AM are tardy. On late start Fridays, if a student arrives after 9:50 AM, they will be counted absent for one full period. On Late Start Fridays, students who arrive after 9:30 AM are tardy.

The Topeka Public School Procedures are as follows:

  1. Absences are excused for student illness or family emergencies. If your child is going to be absent, you should call the office before 9:30 a.m. It is each parentโ€™s responsibility to be sure the office has been notified of the reason for absence. Advanced notice is appreciated.

  2. A phone call attempt will be made on every child that does not arrive at school by 9:30am.

  3. After 2 days of unexcused absences, staff will conduct a home visit or make other direct contact with the child's family, determine what assistance is needed to remedy the problem.

  4. Unexcused absences can result in a truancy report being filed.

  5. Each absence after 10 excused absences will result in the need for a doctorโ€™s release note to be considered an excused absence.

  6. Although Kansas law does not require students to be in school prior to the age of 7, ANY child enrolled in public school does fall into the state truancy policies. Truancy reports will be made to the district truancy officer for any student with excessive absences and/or tardies.
