January Reflections and Exciting Events Ahead

Dear Jaguar Families,

As we close out January, I want to take a moment to reflect on the challenges this month has brought, particularly with the recent power outages. Through it all, we are deeply grateful for the resilience of our students and families who have continued to make daily attendance a priority. Consistent attendance is so important for student success, as it allows students to stay engaged in learning, build meaningful connections, and maintain a sense of routine.

We understand that some families may be facing additional challenges during this time. Please know that our counseling office is here to support you. If you or your student are struggling, don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help in any way we can.

Looking ahead, we are excited about some upcoming events that will bring our community together. In the coming weeks, we’ll be hosting our Winter Sports Rally and a special Jags United event. Stay tuned for more details—we can’t wait to share these moments with all of you.

We hope everyone is staying safe, and as always, please reach out if there’s anything you need. We are here for you.

Warm regards,

Nicole Clymer

Parking Permit Reminder: Ensuring Campus Safety

A friendly reminder: Students must have a valid parking permit to park on campus. This policy is in place to ensure the safety of both students and our entire learning community. Students who park on campus without a permit may face consequences, ranging from Saturday School to having their vehicle towed off school property. Please take a moment to discuss your student's parking permit status with them today. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and orderly campus!

VCHS Shines at Poetry Out Loud: Celebrating Talent and Excellence

The VCHS Poetry Out Loud Competition held on Friday, January 24th, was a resounding success, showcasing the immense talent of our students. The event, filled with captivating performances, was also livestreamed and is available to rewatch using the link below. Congratulations to the top 10 students recognized for their outstanding recitations: Kairos Reyes, Malakas Schlater-Julian, Margie Calac, Abigail Beckett, Isabella Ortiz, Harroop Boparai, Emilie Roach, Heemailini Amin, Ixchel Magee, and Finn Elhard. A special acknowledgment goes to our top three performers: Kairos Reyes, Malakas Schlater-Julian, and Margie Calac, with Kairos Reyes and Malakas Schlater-Julian advancing to the Regional Competition in the coming weeks.

Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to our very own Mrs. Crystal Rienick, who continues to lead the county in creating the very best of this competition. Judges have noted that VCHS sets the standard for all other schools in the region. Watch the excitement unfold again at this link.

VCHS Earns National Recognition for Expanding Opportunities in Computer Science

Valley Center High School has earned the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP), recognizing the school’s efforts to expand opportunities for young women in STEM. Led by Mrs. Paige Prosser, VCHS is one of only 847 schools nationwide to receive this honor during the 2023-24 school year. Female students who take APCSP are more than five times as likely to major in computer science in college, demonstrating the significance of this achievement in preparing students for future success. Congratulations, Mrs. Prosser and our AP Computer Science class students! Click here to learn more!
