September is Attendance Awareness Month. Plano ISD welcomes your partnership as we encourage all students to attend school every day on time. Good attendance habits have been strongly correlated with positive academic outcomes. Please utilize this resource for family attendance—promoting tips and strategies. For more information about Attendance Awareness Month, please contact Director of Family and Social Services Sharon Bradley.

Attendance in school is very important. If your student must be absent, call 469-752-8600 and press 3 to leave a message with your student's name and ID number. If a student must miss class, a parent or doctor's note must be turned in no later than 3 days after the absence. In lieu of a paper note, a note may be emailed to mcmillenattendance@pisd.edu.

Dear McMillen Student and Family,

You are receiving this message to notify you that your student arrived on campus without their school issued ID badge, as required by the Plano ISD dress code policy. Your student received a replacement ID badge; the cost for each replacement ID badge is $5.00. Students may pay for their replacement ID badges in the library on Fridays between 8:20 am and the end of the lunch period at 1:16 pm. Any fees not paid for by the end of the month will be added to the student's Rycor account. Unpaid fees on a student account will result in the inability to register for Plano ISD activities and/or view student schedules.

Please remind your student to ALWAYS wear their school issued ID badge.

Any students with unpaid fees will not be able to purchase a ticket to Homecoming this fall. In addition, they will not be able to attend the event.

Come to Fall Open House on September 11 at 5:30 to walk your student's schedule and meet the teachers!

The purpose of Open House is to provide you with information concerning the various classes your student attends at McMillen High School. At the completion of the evening, you will have experienced the daily routine of your student (with the exception of lunch), have a better understanding of the courses they are enrolled in , and hear from each of their wonderful teachers.

Your student can print a copy of their schedule for you, or you can access your student's schedule through the Plano ISD app utilizing Parent Portal. "Classes" will last 10 minutes with a 5 minute passing period.

1st period 5:30 – 5:40

2nd period 5:45 – 5:55

3rd period 6:00 – 6:10

4th period 6:15 – 6:25

6th period 6:30 – 6:40

7th period 6:45 – 6:55

Support your McMillen Dazzlers Drill Team and order your mums from the Mum shop in Plano online or in store. Place your order by September 13 for school delivery. Delivery will be Monday September 18 after school in the McMillen Cafeteria. Orders after 9/13 will be accepted but are not eligible for school delivery

Every year in AVID one of our most impacting components of the program is having guest speakers share about their profession. McMillen AVID students are always thinking about college majors, and they love exposure to as many as possible. That's where guest speakers help the most. Whether you own a business, are in the medical profession, the world of transportation, hospitality, engineering, law, human relations, trade professions…we would love to schedule you to speak to our students. They are always interested and have an abundance of questions. If you would be willing to come share your profession with us, or if you know someone who would like to come be a guest speaker in our AVID classes, please contact Mike Abney, our AVID Coordinator, at michael.abney@pisd.edu. Please consider sharing what you do with our students! We're looking forward to hearing from you.

2024 AP Exam Schedule

In the interest of safety for students, staff and spectators at Plano ISD athletic events until temperatures return to more manageable ranges, one bottle of water per person will be allowed into stadiums for all games through September 9. Acceptable containers are the clear, plastic disposable/recyclable water bottles. Other types of bottles will not be permitted into the events. Water is also available for purchase at stadium concession stands. In addition, Football Coaches will work closely with game officials to take any additional water breaks necessary to keep all of our student athletes hydrated during all athletic contests.

We work together as a team to provide students experience and training in leadership building skills. Student Senate helps share students' ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers, administrators and other students. Attention McMillen students. Are you interested in music but aren't able to take a class? There is a music club forming that doesn't need any experience for people who want to play instruments, sing, or learn how to create music digitally. Information meeting is today, right after school, in the choir room F118. QR codes in the hallway!
